Easy to install and works great!

Instead of sending it back I decided the item wasn't expensive and really not worth returning so I figured I would repair the thing.
Paully
In both cases one of the plastic bosses was broken.

My home was built in 1992, and I wanted to update the wired door bell chime. I liked how this chime looked so basic, and it doesn't really stand out. Unfortunetly, I ended up having to replace my current transformer to support this new chime. It was easy to do, but it was an unexpected cost not related to this product. My original transformer only supported an output of 10-Volt Amp, and this chime needed an output of 15/16-Volt Amp. In addition, the front door and back door both have a 2-note chime. Still, it's highly likely that it was a wiring mistake on my part.

I had a door chime that was gunked up by a previous owner who smoked. This has the traditional "ding dong" sound and uses real chimes rather than a speaker -- which I prefer. I did notice that the size was slightly smaller than the one it replaced (same functionality), so you may want to check your measurements. Not really a problem, unless what is behind your existing chime (like old wallpaper in my case) is going to stick out and become visible with this smaller chime.

Knocking a star because visually it's about as bland as tofu. Would be nice if they offered simple snap-on replacement covers that varied with your house style. As it is, you could probably paint the cover or add a wood vaneer -- as the front is slightly recessed.

Nothing fancy here, just a basic white plastic box that chimes when you press the button. Can be installed easily using common sense, but it would be nice if the installation instructions refer to this particular chime, and not some other one.

Excellent replacement to the original doorbell to my house. It worked with my current transformer, which had nothing wrong with it. Easy to install and works great!

Working and sounding just like my original one installed by the home builder. Yes, the cover is ugly but that's why I put the old over on it and toss the new cover. Great product at this awesome price.

It works well and easy to install. I agree with another reviewer that the cover is too plain. I just put my old door chime cover on instead.

Our last door chime broke when the door button got stuck. We wanted a cheap replacement. This is certainly that. Build quality is ok and it works. We had one stud holding a chime bar broken on arrival but we held it in place with the rubber bands it came with and that did the trick. Easy to connect. Not pretty but not ugly either. No center top hole to mount horizontally into an outlet box like our last one. Only a hole at either end. For this price it really can't be beat if you just want a replacement chime or one for a fixer upper property. Dropped one star for the broken stud and because it isn't built as a 5 star product.

I bought this to replace a 15 year old unit installed by the home builder. Installation could not have been easier. I did read the instructions but all I had to do was take the wire off the old one and connect them to this one the same way. The cover couldn't be more plain but that's a plus in my book. I don't want my doorbell to draw attention. I've had no problems in the year since I installed it. For me its been a great value for the price and I would recommend it.
