Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Motion-activated lights are convenient and energy efficient, but they can be a little bulky and awkward to look at-in the driveway is fine, but you wouldn't want to put one on your porch. Unless it's one of Heath Zenith's porch lights, that is. These products give you the best of both worlds, combining motion-activation and traditional lantern design.

The SL-4144 is a four-sided New-England style lantern that includes a hidden motion-sensing device. This device will detect movement in a 150-degree radius up to a distance of 30 feet. You can set the light timer to one, five, or ten minutes, and the sensor itself may be adjusted to give you more or less sensitivity (so it doesn't light up every time a car drives by). The weather-resistant antique bronze finish means it's going to look good for a while, too.

This model also features "Dual Brite" lighting, which means you can use it for low-level accent lighting in addition to the full-light effect you get with motion-activation. An included timer allows you to set low-light mode for three hours, six hours, or dusk to dawn (an automatic photocell deactivates the unit in daylight).

If you're looking to save a little money on outdoor lighting by installing a motion-detector, this is a great option that won't look out of place. Requires one medium-base bulb of up to 100 watts (not included).--Josh Dettweiler

Great Deal April 2, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase
After spending several hours looking for a Lantern Style lamp with a motion sensor, I found out that the choices as very limited and most of the ones out there available are extremely expensive. After I found this lamp in Amazon at a very low price I was a little worried the product was not going to be of good quality but once I received it I was very pleased with it looks and quality (good materials and craftsmanship). This lamp is a great bargain and looks and works great. Easy to install.

nice combination of features October 29, 2010

I bought this a couple of years ago for a vacation rental home. It looks very nice and I really like the way it works- the light comes on at dusk and stays on at a low level, brightening if something triggers the motion detector. After a few hours it goes off and then is still activated by the motion detector until dawn. The only problem I had with it was I stupidly put a non-dimmable compact fluorescent bulb in it which flickered when dimmed. Now I use a 40 watt incandescent bulb in it which provides plenty of light. Since dimmable compacts are available now I plan to try one in it.

They are great...when they work
We bought a couple of these. One works great, but the other one doesn't work at all when it comes to the motion-sensing. So I am a little torn. Read more

Overall is good. But it's design could be better.
Price is good as a motion sensor lantern. But I wish it could improve it's design by putting the motion sensitivity adjustment to area which I don't have to unscrew the cover. Read more
