Motion-activated lights are very convenient, but they can be a little bulky and awkward to look at-in the driveway is fine, but you wouldn't want to put one on your porch. Heath Zenith's motion-activated porch lights are another story: the SL-4305 looks like an ordinary five-sided porch light.

This unit will detect motion in a 360-degree radius with up to 30-feet detection range. You can set the light timer to one, five, or ten minutes, and the sensor itself may be adjusted to give you more or less sensitivity (so it doesn't light up every time a car drives by). The weather-resistant brass construction means it's going to look good for a while, too. If you're looking to save a little money on lighting your porch by installing a motion-detector, this is a great option that won't look out of place. I have this this light along side my garage, next to a walkway that goes to an entrance to our deck, it's a very nice subtle (motion detect) welcome light to guests, and an early warning of intruders (who woud then enter my minefield of bright turn-on lights#...so far the only drawback is that I wish it could use LEDs to lite the fixture, for both longevity and that #as I understand it) LEDs do not attract bugs like most lights...anyway I contacted the seller and they recommended not using LEDs...other than that, it is a very nice light...

Both my husband and I are pleased with this attractive motion-activated light. It has a lens shield one can position on a portion of the sensor to block a desired area, for example, the seating area on our porch, which is exactly what we wanted. Not only do I like its simple lines, but I also like how it does not look like a utilitarian motion-activated light. Plus, it was shipped promptly.

This light works perfectly. My house is right on a corner that has a good deal of foot traffic. I did not want the light going on every time someone passed on the sidewalk. The unit comes with little plastic domes that let you control the range of the sensor. With this dome I was able to have the light triggered on only when a person is directly below it. For the price you cannot go wrong; this type of light with these features is not easily found.
