Heath Zenith SL-5410-GR 110-Degree Motion Sensing Security Light with Alert Flash, Gray

I've used 5 similar Heath-Zenith units over the last 9 years.

Too many reliability problems, but they're the only game in town and they're excellent when they work.

Buy the SL-5411 instead of this one. Why?

- Warranty: 10 year vs 2 year for the SL-5410. (You'll need it.)
- better range (70 ft vs 60 ft)
- 150 degree coverage vs 110 degree
- only a few bucks extra

Also, as of now, the SL-5411 is more likely to work with Compact Fluorescent bulbs. [SL-5411-xx-C (at Home Depot or anyplace with fresh inventory) does; older stock (SL-5411-xx-B) doesn't, according to the manual.]

There are also higher models (see below) with 10-year guarantee. Some of which work with CFL bulbs.


Pro's:

- Thoughtfully designed
- Effective for security and convenience
- Way more energy efficient AND way more "alerting" than just leaving lights on
- Reasonably priced

Cons:

- Way inferior to the SL-5411. Buy that instead.
- Reliability roulette (buy local, save warranty and receipt)
- May not work with Compact Fluorescent bulbs

This is great. It works well, it wouldn't hurt if the peripheral vision/angle of the detection were better/wider. But I had another brand that just didn't work as well and even the wind blowing would cause it to light.

Very satisfied with product. Zenith has always made good products. I like the two flash signal before it comes on. Could have included bulbs though. I went to Home Depot to buy them and found a similiar Zenith light which included bulbs for only $1.00 more.

This light is made of plastic. The material isn't stated anywhere in the listing. I was expecting a metal light, so I'm returning it.
