Given that the doorbell wiring in my house has pretty much fallen apart from age, and I didn't relish the thought of tearing up the walls to fix it, I invested in a wireless doorbell some time back.
This is actually the second wireless doorbell I've had. The previous doorbell that I had (GE SmartHome Wireless Door Chime (GE1602SB041W)) has a terrible button that tends to only work 50% of the time. This one has a much better button. The chime unit is quite attractive. It could stand to be a bit louder, but I've heard worse. The default Westminster chime tries pretty hard to sound like a real chime (I think it is a recording, not synthesized), but ends up sounding pretty artificial. It doesn't really bother me, though. The main complaint I have is that the frequency/security code is set with jumpers, and the jumpers for the chime are recessed so far as to make it nearly impossible to manipulate them. (I couldn't even get my tweezers in!) However you can remove the panel that they are recessed behind fairly easily, and then it becomes easy to manipulate them. Kind of annoying, but really you only have to do it once. Also, the first security code jumper combination that I picked (randomly) didn't seem to work. I thought I'd broken it, but I picked a different security code and it started working fine. So it is possible that some of the '127' security codes that are advertised as possible, are actually duds. Or, this may have been a freak occurrence. Something to keep in mind though.

My main concern when I bought this was the distance from the transmitter to the reciever, about 45 feet through heavy walls. It was no problem and the door bell works fine. It looks nice, but the side tubes are fake and only for show. The case just hangs on the top lip. This results in it being flush on top but a slight gap at the bottom. Not noticable unless you look close, such as when installing. It is plenty loud. The push button refused to stick to wood using the two sided tape, but worked fine on the vinyl next to the door frame. No regrets with this product.

Wood cover looks nice, but just sort of hangs there. The sound is nice and loud and relatively easy to adjust, but still sounds pretty artificial.
