Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The SL-7001-WH-C solar powered security light features 180-Degree motion detection up to 70-Feet. Uses (1) 15-Watt halogen bulb (Included).

Product Description

Placed over a garage door, next to the driveway, on the side of a home, or other area in need of enhanced security, this Heath/Zenith SL-7001-WH-C outdoor halogen light turns on when it senses motion for convenient operation when you're home or away. The light's sensor detects motion up to 70 feet and in a 180-degree range, and the detection zone can be adjusted as needed. The motion-activated security light will turn on for the preset amount of time of one to five minutes, and then will turn off automatically. For energy-efficient operation, its photocell technology keeps the light off during daylight hours. Even more, the light comes with a solar panel that uses energy from the sun during the day to charge the unit's rechargeable battery. Other highlights include an adjustable head, a convenient test mode, and durable metal construction for long-lasting performance from one season to the next. The motion-activated solar-powered security light uses a 15-watt halogen bulb (included) and measures 6-1/4 inches long by 8 inches wide by 12 inches high. Heath/Zenith covers the light with a two-year limited warranty.

Heath/Zenith motion-activated decorative lighting makes it possible to save on energy costs--have light when you need it, not when you don't. In addition to saving up to 80 percent in energy costs (over standard decorative lighting), the company's vast assortment of motion-activated decorative lighting comes in a variety styles--choose from over 65 models and more than 16 unique finishes. The company supplies indoor and outdoor products ranging from door chimes and motion-sensor security lights to decorative outdoor light fixtures and wireless lighting controls. Heath/Zenith products install easily, run efficiently, and strive to elegantly reflect the distinct personality of your home.

This device lasted about 6 months then quit working.

Because it carries the name Heath Zenith on it I bought 4 of these believing it would be a quality product.

The solar panel that came with this light needs three days of bright, noon-time sun to charge!

Thought I might mention that this is probably the best security light in solar available a bit pricey but well worth it. I've had mine three years with excellent results so far. The panel needs to be up on the roof preferably directly at high noontime sun and there is plenty of wire to do this, I used small cable tacks to secure to roof. In the Northwest you may get less light and for shorter periods of time but when it is faced directly toward sun, especially during summer with high noontime sun, it will work for over 15 days on one charge. I have three of them for a rental house and now will purchase three more for my new house. The best light to use for intruders especially if you can mount under an eave and shine directly into an unsuspected passerby's face, they will leave mmediately. The motion sensor works up to 75' that was the measure to my driveway from corner of house and it would come on when someone approached my house. Be sure to charge as per the directions the first time to get the full benefit from the battery.

There are lots of solar powered lights, but most of those have puny LEDs which provide very little light. This one has a real light bulb and provides a good amount of light. It's not a 150-watt bulb, but it really lights up my driveway. It has a hefty battery as well, so it takes longer to charge, but if you want a more power out, you need to provide more power in. I have only two complaints - one is that the light is fairly tightly focused - I would have preferred it spread out over a bigger area (but then it would have appeared dimmer). The other is that it doesn't stay on long enough once motion stops or you walk out of the sensor's area. But those are both minor items. I love mine, and have given out two others as gifts.

The solar panel that came with this light needs three days of bright, noon-time sun to charge! Another solar light I use -- one I bought elsewhere -- will charge from the light of a lightbulb! So, as it's winter, wet and foggy, it may be months before this light is charged enough to use it! I do wish the product description and included this vital detail -- I wouldn't have bought it.

Easy to install takes three days to fully charge the battery before turing it on. Works great. Bright but not blaring which is fine for me. Time of course will tell if it has a long battery life. The senor adusts and it goes on quickly when movement detected. Has good range. Bought mine at Home Depot for about same price. It's been through rain storms and works in the rain. (Added this today 9/14/12)I have had for three years may be starting to lose battery or bulb life? Still highly recommend because 3 years is a long time in my estimation. Will buy again. 1/18/13 I thought my light was failing. No way! It is working fine. Amazing! Very pleased and highly recommend.

This worked great until the battery died after 1 year. I gave up searching for a replacement online. I would have called Heath/Zenith about a replacement but they only answer phones during business hours. Instead, I bought replaced it with Motion-Activated 14 LED Security Floodlight for a lot less money. It uses LED lights for much lower power consumption and has easy-to-replace AA batteries. That's what I recommend buying if you're thinking about this one.

Not worth it, cheap system failed only after a few months, what happens is the cheap battery goes bad and you have to keep replacing it, was hoping to maybe upgrade the battery can't seem to find any in this dimensions 5.25inch in Lenght 2 inches in width and 3 inches high.

Don't buy will be useless in a few months.

We are very pleased with the Heath Zenith Floodlight. Living in northern California, we have fall/winter sun and had no difficulty in charging our light. Yes, we did let it sit in the sun for the required 72 hours. Works perfectly - we are very pleased. Would recommend to others.
