This review is not about the show, though it is amazing. I'd just like to point out that Amazon has it mislabled, splitting one season into two parts and labling the second volume as the second season. It's NOT. The second season will start airing in Fall of 2013, under the new subtitle Defenders of Berk. I hope Amazon will be able to correct this error.

My son (3) loves HTTYD, but my husband and I were at a point where we needed something different...you can only watch the same movies over and over and over again so many times. So, when we found Dragons: RIders of Berk, it was a welcome relief. A lot of the same character voices came over to the tv series, so that is great for continuity, and the show maintains a good level of writing and plotting. It's something that all of us can enjoy watching together, and doesn't rely on inappropriate or double meaning jokes to make it enjoyable for a wider audience. Vol 2 picks up just at the end of Vol 1 and continues the great stories seen there. The animation quality is somewhat less than the movie, but that is to be expected, but in most other aspects - writing, voices, plots, story - the series does very well and is a great addition to our movie library selection. I particularly like that there is focus on some of the other dragon varieties and riders aside from just Hiccup and Toothless - don't get me wrong, I love Toothless, but it is neat to learn more about the other characters as well!

My children really enjoyed this series and it had fairly age appropriate content. They were quite excited to find that they afford individual episodes with their allowance :)

How to Train Your Dragon is a great movie, and the show continues the stories and friend ships. Till the new movie comes in June 2014.

I gave it 2 stars because of the streaming issues. The TV series is excellent, and I give it 5 stars.
Bought the whole series for my children to watch. I loved the movie as much as they did, and could not wait for the first season to come out as a dvd. While we LOVED the series, we have had a hard time streaming it. we have a very fast Internet connection and when we stream netflix, for instance, we always have a great picture. Here - we had to stop and refresh to get decent picture. This is not the first time I have had this problem with amazon instant videos. The only reason I bought this video via Amazon, is that it's not available anywhere else....

As for the content - meaning the show itself - I strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the movie!

Adventure, actions and humor - I watched it together with my 7 and 5 yrs old offspring and we all enjoyed it. I was surprised to see how well they managed to keep the spirit of the movie when adopted to a tv series. Most of the voice talents stayed as well, which is always good news. The show contains VERY LITTLE violence ( you do see some fighting scenes where the dragons fight invaders off - but miraculously no one is seriously hurt, not even the bad guys ) But - There are some parts in it that are slightly darker and scarier than what you would usually expect in a children's show. There's a lot of suspense and uncertainty of what will become of our favorite characters. The first season ended in a cliff hanger, and my 5 yr old, who is unaccustomed to suspenseful plots, was very unhappy about it. He really wanted his happy ending. In that aspect I would say this show is iffy for under 7 yrs old, But in general - if your child was old enough to enjoy the movie he or she will definitely enjoy "Riders of berk".

It's still a terrific time. My daughter loves the dragons (and anything that flies or has a motor really :D), so it seemed like a thing she would enjoy, these episodes, and she thoroughly did.

My grandson can recite entire scenes from he movie Dragons. Needing a reprive from the movie I bought seasons 1 and 2. We both love it. Hiccup and the gangs adventures are entertaining to both of us. Having watched each adventure with him, I am not afraid to fix lunch or throw a load of laundry in the washer. Toothless and his friends will hold my grandsons attention.
