This review is from: For the Heathers (Audio CD)
Everything I'd heard about this band didn't quite apply to this ep since it's somewhat of a lark, although this band seems to be made up of larks. I'd heard they are like Queen, however, it's far more accurate to say they employ the same areas as Queen but don't sound much like them. The regular lead singer (I'll clear up why I say this later) has a rich voice like Mercury, but is of a deeper variety. This Ep was done on a dare for each member to write a song with the same title "Heather" but write and record their own versions on their own with no help from the other members. It's supplemented by a remix of a previous track and another previously unreleased song. What's interesting is that every song goes off without a hitch, is comepletely different, and fit extremely well within the small collection of songs found here. It also stays true in humor to the feel of the band outside of the gimmick of the Ep. I have since listened to their second album "The Simp" and the more I hear the more I'm impressed. I hope they do more of this switching up in their upcoming albums because clearly, they're all talented pop songwriters in waiting. Keep up the good work, guys.
