Lora Leigh continues her series with Heather's Gift-Sam and Heather's story. Sam and Heather come together at a time when a murderer is wanting to harm everything they hold dear. The suspense in this story will keep you captivated. A definite page turner, that will have you finishing it in one sitting.

2.0 out of 5 stars My least favorite of the series of 3 August Men books
Somehow I read book 2 (Sarah's Seduction) first and LOVED it. Then I read Marley's choice which I didn't enjoy as much just because it seemed to hold out and hold out and then boom jumped into it which made it unbelievable. In Heather's Gift, I'm not sure Heather is developed as a character at all - but she went from Virgin to holding a gun to Sam's head and "raping"...

The suspense in this story will keep you captivated. A definite page turner, that will have you finishing it in one sitting.

The erotic sex is definitely a plus. Described as ultra hot and equal to an inferno by most of her readers, the erotica will have you squirming for more.

The sequel to the August Brother Series, does not disapoint. Visit www.loraleigh.com for more information on the series, and Ultra-Hot excerpts.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing, December 20, 2008
By
I have no problems reading books about domination and ménage sex; in fact I've read hundreds of books with these themes. But Cade and his brothers take it a step too far. They basically tell these women you will be having sex with me and my two brothers as often as we like. And if you try to leave we'll just come after you. Because you belong to me. Oh, and my brothers as well. Doesn't matter whether the woman wants it or not.

Cade and his brothers have got some serious psychological issues. And they think that sharing their girlfriends between them makes them feel closer and therefore helps. Erm, guys, ever heard of COUNSELLING??! But no, let's not do that, let's just bully and ridicule our girlfriends into having sex with all of us instead. That way we get all the fun and they just have to put up with it. Because we're big, tough, domineering men and you WILL do what WE want.

In fact as the series progresses, the books say they are allowed to have sex with any of the women whenever they want to. Not just in a ménage setting. If Cade wants to have sex with Sam's girlfriend he can, if Sam wants to have sex with Brock's girlfriend, hey bro, go right ahead! And to make this easier on the men? The women aren't allowed to wear underwear. Ever. It's taken away from them. I mean, heavens above, if one of the guys gets an itch and Marly is available in the kitchen, we couldn't possibly expect him to have to deal with underwear! And even worse, when they first start having sex, each woman gets a brown paper bag on their bed. Inside is a sex toy and lubricant, along with a SCHEDULE of when to use it and for how long! This way the woman is ready to be taken anally whenever the men want. These women aren't women, they're objects to be used as and when required. The emotional involvement is incidental. The brothers are only going out with them because it solves the problem of finding a willing woman in town.

This book sickened me. It left me feeling dirty by association. I felt like I needed a hot shower afterwards, and not in a good way.

Also, can I just ask, why is every single woman in Lora Leigh's books completely spineless? It's like they're completely controlled by what's between their legs. It doesn't matter how badly the men treat them, one look and their minds have gone completely. They're all Too Stupid To Live.

If Lora Leigh thinks the treatment of the women in this book and the others in the series is acceptable then I think she also needs counselling. No woman deserves to be treated like an object, to be used when needed, dominated to the point, that, if she says no, she's not comfortable doing that, she's punished and ridiculed.

2.0 out of 5 stars That's not sexy!!! That's creepy!!!, September 7, 2006
think about the premise, it's not only creepy, it's just wrong. The August brothers were sexually abused and victimized as young men and now the only way they can feel complete love from a woman is together. I know, I know it's total backwoods Jerry Springer crap!!! I really don't like books like this. Ones that have a racier theme or kink and wrap it up with a bow and call it "fufilling" or "complete love". Where I come from having a threesome or foursome with your brothers is just disturbed!!! And the women in story just buy into this warped way of thinking. I don't know about other ladies but if a guy I was dating suggested this; there would be a me shaped hole in the door, and burnt rubber in the driveway!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Why, oh why do they have to 'share'?, April 12, 2005

I'm a big fan of Lora Leigh's work with one big exception - I can't abide it when her hero's just have to share their women for seemingly no good reason apart from to generate a XXX sex scene. I don't mind explicit language, and she's fantastic at creating chemistry and sizzling heat, as well as convincing characters so it really disappoints me to see so many of her male protagonists go down the same, silly path. For me, it wrecks the story.

I really wanted to know the identity of the stalker and more about how the three brothers got this way. These guys are just too twisted. I'm sorry that my curiosity got the best of me and kept me buying these books because I wouldn't consider this a "love" story.

1.0 out of 5 stars Distressing story, December 30, 2009
I like Lora Leigh's Breeds series and thought I'd give another one of her books a try. Boy, was I disappointed. I couldn't get into the story at all. Sam, the guy who supposedly has feelings for Heather, is sleeping with his brothers' women while Heather is in the same house. WHAT?? And Heather who is a virgin is told that if they will be together, she has to be with his brothers too. Tied up in leather and taken by force, if she doesn't want it. Again I say WHAT??? Heather just wants to love Sam and be with him, and not have him be with other women. But then she hangs out hope that it might work out even when she knows what he is up to. She should have left long ago. I like menage stories if they are done well, and this book didn't pull it off.

And then somehow Heather is kidnapped and cutup by the bad guy, but all that is really glossed over. How did it happen? How did they get her back? What exactly happened? Why doesn't she seem upset about it?

I also didn't even like Sam's character. He comes across as a mean jerk and crazy sometimes too. We're told that Heather's in love with him but we see no reason for her to be in love with him from their interactions. He treats her poorly.

And there is not good character development for Heather. We are told she is working security for the Augusts and sister to one of the security people, but know nothing about her background. Then all of a sudden she pulls a gun on the other brothers when they are trying to protect Sam and she's trying to protect Sam, and they have different ideas how to do that. WHAT?? She's supposed to be their security. Then she pulls the gun on Sam and in her words 'rapes' him. That's her first time having vaginal smex. Yeah, right. That's realistic. How loving.

All in all, the book really makes no sense. I can't recommend it. Didn't think I'd say that about a Lora Leigh book. It's almost like it was written by a totally different author than who did the Breeds series.

oh my God! this book is soooo good as is the entire Men of August series from Lora Leigh. This book is the third book in the series and continues the story from the first two. i love the fact that these books actually have a good story line to them and not just sex, sex, sex (although there is plenty of that and boy is it HOT!!!). You really feel for the characters and can't wait to learn more about them and i love the mystery concept that is threaded through the whole series and culminates in Heathers Gift. If I had to pick only one author to read it would be Lora Leigh. Her books are excellently written and real spellbinders.

2.0 out of 5 stars Female lead does a 180, August 4, 2010
Heather's Gift, is the third and final book in the August Men series. Someone is stalking the August brothers and their women, and no one knows when this person will strike. Heather is currently helping to protect the brothers, including Sam August, whom she ends up falling in love with. Will Sam and Heather be together or are Sam's dark desires too much for Heather?

***possible spoilers***
So I read the second first and it made me really uncomfortable unfortunately I had already ordered the other two. I adore Lora Leigh's breeds series and some of her other books. This book was my favorite of the series until literally chapter 35. I liked the female lead Heather, because she was tough and stuck to her beliefs. Suddenly in chapter 35 she suddenly decides she must show her love for Sam, in a way I think most people would NOT understand. I have no problem with threesomes among consenting adults, but men (who are brothers) in committed relationships having sex with each others girlfriends/fiancees went beyond my personal morals. The fact that all the women had doubts about "sharing" and had jealous moments goes to show that maybe that it's not exactly functional. Heather was completely against it and wanted Sam all to herself as Sarah did for Brock, and Marly for Cade... then suddenly each woman has an "ephiphany"... and then they realize the sharing of their women heals and bonds the brothers. What they need is some good old therapy... It just doesn't feel real to me that the women would not have MAJOR ISSUES with sharing their men with other women, I don't care how close you are to the OTHER woman.

5.0 out of 5 stars COVER TO COVER READ....HOT. HOT. HOT., February 23, 2006
Heather's Gift: Book three of the August Men series.

Can't tell you how much I love reading this author. Her stories are original and don't mimck ideas that have already been written.
Heather's job was to guard Sam August. The August family once again is being threatened by an unknown foe. Sam is being threatened because his foe found out of his love for Heather. Heather can't be distracted from her job but Sam won't take no for an answer.
This book has mystery, love, romance, lots of hot sex (detailed), threesomes,
light bondage and 100% alpha-male tendencies.

There is no way you will be disappointed with this book. Try to read them in order. book one.. Marly's choice.. book two. Sarah's seduction ....August heat is book four and it wraps up the series....Thou I wish the author could go on with this family.
