5.0 out of 5 stars Probably the best IBS solution out there
These little capsules work wonders. I'd tried a few different supplements, exclusionary diets, and even a prescription antispasmodic, but these have proven to be more effective for my IBS than anything else. However, my case of IBS-D is pretty bad and on some days I have to take more than 3 in order to tame my feisty bowels. But these things really do work well and I...

2.0 out of 5 stars Does it tame flatulence?
Sorry for this "Not-so-good" review, but I found that these tummy tamers did absolutely nothing to tame my flatulence, so I was very disappointed. I had such high hopes they would be beneficial. My order was shipped promptly and items arrived in good condition.

But these things really do work well and I highly recommend them!

That said, I've found that also taking a daily probiotics supplement helps too, and would recommend the same to anyone with IBS.

Also, the one downside to taking these is that sometimes (not too often) the enteric coating doesn't seem to hold up long enough and yeah... it winds up releasing the peppermint in your stomach or something cuz you wind up burping peppermint for a half hour.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked for me!, December 16, 2008
This review is from: Heather's Tummy Tamers-Peppermint Oil Capsules, 180ct (2 Pack) (Health and Beauty)
Heather's Tummy Tamers-Peppermint Oil Capsules, 180ct (2 Pack)

My stomach has bothered me for a few years and there was an urgency that couldn't be denied. Finally I read an article on Irritable Bowel Syndrome that fit my symptoms to a T. Not long ago CNN had an article about low cost treatments for IBS. The thing they said worked the best (behind psyllium fiber and a cheap drug) was peppermint oil but it needed more research. So I did a little digging and found they were talking about enteric coated peppermint oil. That's how I found Heather's Tummy Tamer - Peppermint Oil Capsules. I've been taking one a day since they arrived about a month ago and the change has been truly amazing!

My kids no longer say "Mom! Is that your stomach?" and I have not had the urgency I used to. They've really made a difference for me.

The only down side is that there are times when I have a peppermint taste in my mouth. I solved that by taking the capsule before I go to bed.

This product worked for me and I can honestly say I'll be taking these for a very long time. Beats the alternative.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works, but there are drawbacks, May 15, 2009
This review is from: Heather's Tummy Tamers-Peppermint Oil Capsules, 180ct (2 Pack) (Health and Beauty)
I do like these pills. I've been taking them for about a week now, and I feel great now. No abdominal cramps. My IBS is now in control. However, if you don't take it on a completely empty stomach, it can give you indigestion. Really bad indigestion. I ended up burping peppermint for hours, and it was painful heartburn. Since my stomach is hardly ever empty, I just take a pepcid along with it and it works out fine. For anyone with IBS, I would recommend this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best Product that Heather Makes, June 16, 2009
This review is from: Heather's Tummy Tamers-Peppermint Oil Capsules, 180ct (2 Pack) (Health and Beauty)
This is the most effective product that Heather makes. It works far better than the Acacia fiber or even the fennel tea. I like that it addresses several symptoms, including reflux and flatulence.

If you suffer from IBS, you really should try these.
They help relieve the Bloating, cramps and gas that i have suffered with for years.
the recomendation is to take these on an empty stomach, i find they work best with a very light snack, usually 2 or 3 crackers about 1/2 hour before lunch

You can find several simular items out ther, BUT not as high a quality as Heathers.
many of the other brands will disolve in the stomache instead of the intestines where it does the most good.
Heathers has a couting that delays them from disolving until they are where they can do the most good
Do yourself a favor, buy this product

Great helpful natural product! When taken as directed, it indeed helps with the symptoms of IBS ! I have been a sufferer of this condition and I have found that this has helped me ward off the effects of the problem, better than over the counter man-made products or even prescription drugs! In the long run, it proves better for your body than harmful chemical or man-made pills !

Peppermint pills are great. I take them, I recommend them. For a long time, I purchased only these ones (partly because of the smaller brand with products developed for IBS specifically, partly because they were the first ones I tried).

Eventually, though, I got sick of what seemed like a steady decline in the effectiveness of these capsules. No matter how I timed taking one of these prior to eating (various ways that had worked in the past), I ended up with that slight tingling feeling in my esophagus and peppermint burbs multiple days every week. I don't have problems with heartburn, I just want the capsule to dissolve where it is supposed to. I wonder if manufacturing changed at some point... So, I tried a different pill (pepogest). Works wonderfully, doesn't dissolve in my stomach, and continues to be of consistently good quality.
