Review

Jamie Denton launches a new trilogy with Slow Burn, a steamy, atmospheric tale with an appealing edge. -- Romantic Timses Bookclub, Sept 2003

From the Author

Dear Reader, The idea for Some Like it Hot first came to me when one of my closest friends decided to pursue a new career, that of an EMT followed shortly thereafter by her successfully becoming a firefighter. Our discussions during her education and training fueled my creative fire to the point I could no longer ignore the three sexy hunks you’re about to meet. This month meet Cale, a hot and sexy paramedic with a penchant for saving damsels in distress, something that often leads him into trouble. Every man loves a mysterious woman, but what could be more intriguing than a woman without a past . . . especially a past she can’t remember? Join me again in October where a blistering Heatwave isn’t all that’s heating up for arson inspector, Drew. Will this diehard playboy finally torch his little black book? In November, things get even hotter when firefighter Ben comes Under Fire when he’s asked to fulfill the ultimate fantasy -- of the woman investigating him. I would love to hear from you! Feel free to drop me a line anytime at jamie@jamiedenton.net.

Until next month,
Jamie

Emily Dugan is getting over the flu and a hectic assignment at work as she plans on visiting her grandmother, who she calls Grandy, in California. However she is let go because of corporate downsizing and her boyfriend dumps her because he's been cutting the grass in other pastures. So she's not exactly feeling like a million bucks when she gets to Grandy's and finds out by a gorgeous hunk of a fire inspector named Drew Perry, that Grandy is in the hospital.

Drew tells Emily that her grandmother is going to be all right, but that she'd gotten some slight burns in a small fire. Drew is in charge of investigating a series of fires and it's not long before he's interested in investigating Emily as well. And wouldn't you know it, the one thing that can cure a girls blues is a good man, especially a good looking man. And Emily, who has no job or boyfriend, just might be ready for a move and a good man.

I can't tell you enough how much I enjoyed this book. I read away during four consecutive lunch breaks at work, skipping nourishment, but you know, I needed to lose a few pounds anyway.
