One of the strongest voices ever to grace the page,

This review is from: Heaven: Collected Poems, 1956-1990 (Hardcover)
This book includes almost forty years of Young's published work. Young's poetry is good on the page, at times excellent, but the real magic happens when you read it aloud. Young has an amazing gift for combining content and sound. He makes them dance, just as the title of his first volume of poetry, "Dancing" (included in this volume)suggests. Young's use of rhythm and sound make this book a pleasure for any reader. His poems are carefully crafted, with strong ties to voice and a deft sense of drama. You'll get chills.
