5.0 out of 5 stars a sweet book, February 14, 2010

i found this book to be a delightful romance, with quite a bit of adventure, too. i loved the christian theme, it was straight to the point. the book deals with the subject of trusting in the Lord in spite of tragedies and misfortunes. i think this is a subject upon which everyone has had questions at one time or other and i personally profited greatly from reading "where heaven begins".

the romance was very sweet, while at the time being quite realistic.

Love 2 Read Novels "Sherry" (a small town in Kansas USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Where Heaven Begins (Steeple Hill Women's Fiction #7) (Paperback)
This is one of best novels I've read. The characters are so real. They have real issues and struggles and face lots of adversity. If you don't read this book you will be missing out on a skillfully written story of love, trust, forgiveness and determination. You will laugh and cry with these characters whom you will come to love very much. I highly recommend this book to anyone. You won't be sorry you took the time. It's one you won't want to put down. Rosanne Bittner has a rare gift in the way she writes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Where Heaven Begins, March 3, 2005
This review is from: Where Heaven Begins (Steeple Hill Women's Fiction #7) (Paperback)
This is a story about two opposites. A rough bounty hunter running away from his past and a Christian woman who falls in love with him and helps him face his past, while he saves her life every five minutes. The story is somewhat entertaining and easy to read.

This appears to be the first "Christian" book by Ms. Bittner. However, I couldn't help but feel that she's writing about something she doesn't really understand. The heroine is a "good" Christian and there are plenty of bible verses thrown in for good measure. However, something just doesn't ring true. I can't help but feel like this is just a "new market" for Ms. Bittner. If you read Robin Lee Hatcher or Francine Rivers (who once were secular writers), you can immediately tell that they understand what being a Christian is and how one thinks. Ms. Bittner seemed to write a story and throw some verses and preaching in there to "make it Christian." Overall it was a fun story and I hope she continues to write more in the same vein. It's always nice to read a romance without the mindless and moronic explicit sexual scenes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Christian Reading, December 17, 2004
This review is from: Where Heaven Begins (Steeple Hill Women's Fiction #7) (Paperback)
Having read and enjoyed most of Rosanne Bittner's novels since the 80s, I found this book on Steeplehill's (the publisher) website, and I thought, hmmm. It sounded awfully good and decided to order it. I'm very glad I did. Nowadays (having grown older) I read mostly Christian books and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It's a light read, not too in-depth, but enjoyable nonetheless. It is now being passed around by the ladies at my church! Ms. Bittner has another Christian fiction book coming out in January, 2005 and I intend to read that one also. Read this book, you'll be glad you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Roseanne Bittner did it again!, March 3, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have to admit I disagreed with the reviewer that didn't feel that this book rang true as far as the Christianity influence ... or maybe I just read her review incorrectly ... I really enjoyed this book and as a former fan of Roseanne Bittner's books back when I used to read mainstream romances ... when I saw that she was writing Christian romances which I now read I became interested ... and I do have to say I truly enjoyed it, yes, it may have been different than some of the others I have read but that is what I love about all the Christian authors I read.

This book was set back right before the turn of the 1900's which I found facinating ... and I know I struggled with Liz & Clint on their nightmare of a journey to Alaska. I felt at times that I was there ... I was heartbroken over Clint's struggles, and proud that he overcame his grief ... but as we know it is never easy. The physical struggles as well as the emotional struggles in their journey were horrendous ... made one realize how hard life was back then ... boy am I ever appreciative of modern conveniences that we have today ... but we, too, have our own personal struggles and it is up to us how we handle them.

Excellent book ... one that I enjoyed very much!
