3.0 out of 5 stars I don't believe him he jokes too much
Sorry, I don't believe him but the book could be good to imagine what Heaven is like. He jokes too much and I don't believe the Word of Faith (positive confessions to get God to bless you) is the Gospel. It is the name it and claim it kind. It is also hard to know when the jokes end and the truth begins on his segment that aires on TBN. More entertaining than anything...

The Bible doesn't tell us a lot about heaven. We glimpse the promise somewhere between the Eden of Genesis and New Jerusalem of Revelation.

Then comes Jesse with a first-hand account of heaven! The glory of God lighting up the whole place, Jesus and the prophets minstering to the saints, Paul and the Apostles teaching and talking with the citizens of heaven, eating fruit from heavenly gardens. It's all beyond credibility somehow.

I wondered if Jesse was pulling our leg. Selling his story for the money. Trying to make a name for himself on the speaking tour. My modern day skeptism and sense of smell for charlatans leapt within me.

However, reading his accounts, his commentary, and his testimony persuaded me that he is faithfully reporting what he saw, felt, and understood. I believe this is a true account of a heavenly adventure by a fellow Christian journeyman.

If you accept that too, you will be challenged with a burden for the lost, an urgent sense of Christ's impending return, and a deeper love for God.

The story is told in a simple, straightforward, and humble fashion. My wife and daughter finished it in one reading. This book is a sweet testimony to the love, patience, mercy, grace and glory of the living God of heaven and earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars An eyewitness account of the third heaven, August 3, 2001
By
This review is from: Heaven: Close Encounters of the God Kind (Hardcover)
You can read the whole book at one sitting. The highlight of this book is Jesse's EYEWITNESS account of his 5 hour 15 minutes earth time trip via CHARIOT type transportation (with his angel) to the third heaven. Jesse landed in PARADISE first where he spent time exploring the new found land with beautiful scenery - mountains, valleys, flowers, grass, tree of life, river of life, heavenly fragrance, no shadows, animals etc. Jesse also saw CHILDREN in Paradise. Jesse had to eat the FRUIT from the Tree of Life to impart strength to him throughout his entire trip, more so as he moved closer to the Throne Room. Then, Jesse moved on to the heavenly CITY where he saw the WALL OF JASPER and the names of the apostles as FOUNDATIONS. Jesse also saw the BOOK OF LIFE. His appointment with the great God Yahweh was in the THRONE ROOM, the center of heaven. He met and conversed with old testament characters like Abraham, King David (who happenned to be his other tour guide - could it be King David was Jesse's son, so King David guided the author who is also called Jesse?), prophet Jonah and one new testament character, the apostle Paul. Such conversations with saints is what the Apostle's Creed called: "COMMUNION OF THE SAINTS". It is NOT necromancy which is forbidden in Scripture. Of course, he met JESUS both in the heavenly city and in the Throne Room. Jesse's conversations with Jesus is outside the Throne Room cos he heard Jesus preached in the Throne Room. Jesse saw big holes in Jesus' feet where light was shining through. Jesse recorded his detailed conversations with the Apostle Paul, his Bible hero. SERVANTHOOD seems to be the MOTIVATION factor among the saints and angels alike in the third heaven. Jesse's THRONE ROOM experience is the CLIMAX of his trip. Our Father is very BIG. His face cannot be seen cos the Light emanating from Him is too intense and too bright. Jesse saw Father's huge hands of light and His feet. Jesse also saw his own MANSION and went inside to have a look at the furnishings of his own mansion in the heavenly city. All our heart's desire was catered for!! The KEY message Jesus wants Jesse to bring to us is that JESUS IS COMING BACK VERY SOON, much sooner than we think.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely sobering account of Heaven and Jesus, July 28, 1998

This book is not just about Jesse's trip to heaven.(Although I have read and reread those pages). It is about how God wants to be a part of daily life with all of his children. Jesse's account of his experiences with God in everyday life, even when Jesse wanted nothing to do with God, shows us that God is loving, kind, and merciful. He wants us all to experience this eternal life. This book is a quick read. You will want to read it again. It is written in humility and reverence. All his experiences are biblically sound. I too eagerly await for this close encounter of the God Kind.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST books in existence today, September 5, 2001

Jesse experience being caught up in heaven, taking a tour around and reaching the very throne of God is an awsome and wonderful love letter from God to us in these last days. If you're looking for a preview of life in heaven - this is it. It has amplified my focus on things above where Christ is seated - yet reminds me not to forget to tell people down here about the gospel and his soon return. I liked the part where Jesus preached in front at the throne of God, the conversations with Abraham, David, Paul, Jonah, and most of all with Jesus himself. You will share in the sorrow of Jesus for the lost and some of you may even find yourselves in full-time ministry after reading this book. There are only a few books that you will read over again - this is one of them. If you're hungry for more of these - also try "Didn't you Read my Book" - Richard Eby and "The heavens opened" - Anna Roundtree, I hope Rick Joyner's book arrives from mail soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavenly Preview, December 16, 2003
This review is from: Heaven: Close Encounters of the God Kind (Hardcover)
Man, you wanna talk about a book you can't put down! I read this in one night (which isn't that great of a feat, since the book is only 185 pages of large type), and I was so excitied and pumped after I was finished that I wasn't able to sleep! I was that wired.
The first third of the book, roughly, regards Jesse's early years and his first encounters with the spiritual realm. These are extremely interesting tidbits, especially when Brother Jesse continues to live a heathen life style after these events. You really want to ask him, "WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?" Obviously, he straightens up later on...
Brother Jesse does all of this, of course, with his trademark humor. Even in print, this man is a mess. He is incredibly humorous...all I could think of is, "I'd gladly pay an expensive steak dinner to sit down with him and just talk about the Lord". It would be an expreience I'd not forget, I'm sure.
The main meat of the book, however, deals with the Brother Jesse being caught up into Heaven and meeting many of the biblical saints - Abraham, David, Paul, Jonah - and most importantly, our savior Jesus. He describes what they look like, how tall they were, their personalites, etc...Once you get to this point, where Jesse is on a tour of heaven guided by the king of Isreal, David, I challenge you to put this book down. I think it's impossible to do.
I came away with a better understanding of Jesus than I did before I read this book. I always viewed Him as a teacher, a gentle man of love. While He is indeed very much that, what I came away with after reading this book is that He is very much a preacher, a leader, an on-fire motivator, a being of unproachable integrity (I say "being" because Jesus is more than a man).
I can honestly say this book has changed me. I want a robe, not a gown, and after reading this book, I believe you'll feel the same way, as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven: Encounters of the God Kind, September 10, 2002

A wonderful true story of Jessie's trip to Heaven where Abraham told him he had an appointment with God. There he meets up with several Bible Disciples and witness them teaching even in heaven. His awesome visit with the most powerful God to the throne room is so discriptive and until I read this book and listened to the tapes and the video I did not understand just how powerful Our Heavenly Father is. It has just given me an all over new look about Our Father and Jesus, a whole new concept. Jessie met Jesus and got a message from Him to tell everyone...but that is for you to read the book and find out the message. Jessie tells this trip to The Most Holy God so that everyone can understand what heaven is like and most importantly Jesus and His Father. Do not miss this one it is, for lack of a better word, "Awesome".

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven, March 22, 2006
This review is from: Heaven: Close Encounters of the God Kind (Hardcover)
I ordered this book when we lost our 24 yr. old son. I was searching for comfort and wanted to read everything I could about heaven. Well, I love this book and I love Jesse! I loved the book so much that I ordered his dvd and an extra book to share with my loved ones. Heaven is a real place! One day we will meet again, all of our loved ones that have gone on before us. This book is full of scriptures and Jesse's vision of heaven. It's a must have for me and my family. I never dreamed or thought for one moment that one of my children would leave this earth before I would. My family and I found great comfort in this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Definately Worthwhile Reading, September 13, 2004
By
Angel Bear (Zuni Virginia USA) - See all my reviews

I was skeptical at first, but I'm not foolish enough to doubt God's power to make Jesse's trip happen. Think about the book of Revelation itself. Why is it so hard to believe that God can still reveal himself today, in His own way, as He did 2000 & 3000 years ago?
Jesse's message in this book is tht Jesus coming back again....soon. That He loves us and wants us to spend eternity with Him, by accepting Him as our Savior. This is NOT the message of a false prophet. False prophets don't tell us about God's love for us. They steer us in the opposite direction.
They misquote scripture. This book DOESN'T.
As for Jesse's levity, well it's true, "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine."
My advice - read, enjoy & be changed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Heavenly Minded So You'll Be Of Earthly Use!, November 27, 2000

With a book like this one must decide: Either Jesse is telling the truth or he is lying through his teeth. Its one or the other. Having personally seen/heard Jesse in action I am convinced he speaks the truth(And I'm typically a very cynical person). Jesse KNOWS Jesus. It just radiates from him. This book has not only given me a picture of my future mailing address(!) but has impacted me powerfully with just how much Jesus loves me. Consequently it has put me more in love with Jesus and given me a greater desire to serve Him all my days. This generation of believers is not heavenly-minded enough. Yet how often does the apostle Paul speak about it!? I give this book a hearty 'amen'. Blessings to Jesse and all who read this book with a hungry heart!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Visualization of Heaven, September 21, 2000
This review is from: Heaven: Close Encounters of the God Kind (Hardcover)
I read this book one week after my husband and sole mate of 24 years died. Since my husband was a Christian here on earth, I can now tell people with certainty that he is alive in heaven. This book has helped me visualize where my husband is now and I know I will see my husband again. All the information is based on the scripture. This book puts all the information in the Bible into one book which easy to read and understand. It will give you a great understanding of heaven and the importance of the second coming of Christ.
