5.0 out of 5 stars It's that Heaven song......again?!
Yeah, first there was Eyra Gail and now we've got DJ Sammy, Yanou, and their vocalist Do. If you are like me, I'm sure these two songs have been confusing you for the last few months. It is extremely hard to figure out who's who as far as the vocals go. I have yet to figure out how both camps decided to remake this song at almost the same time. I was really impressed with...

3.0 out of 5 stars Heaven
Heaven~ DJ Sammy is a so much better version then that of the orginal made by Brian Adams. I love the vocal skills of the chick that sings this track and the samples and keyboard sounds are great. In fact, one could make the arguement that this track is much better as a dance track then as a cheesy and tacky ballad. This a must have for the dance floor at clubs or private...

I was really impressed with this attempt from DJ Sammy(a.k.a.). I tend to favor Do's vocals over Eyra's, even though I believe they both have done excellent jobs with their lyrical bliss. This version features really cool beats, echoes, guitar-plucks, and vocoder usage. The remixes are all tight. A few of them are quite lengthy, one way drawn out, but at least you get your money's worth! As far as the cover goes, your guess is as good as mine. I highly recommend this single to fans of Ian Van Dahl("Castles In the Sky"&"Will I?") , Lilo("Everything"), Milk Inc.("Walk On Water"&"In My Eyes"), DJ Encore("Walking In the Sky"&"I See Right Through to U"), Sylver("Turn the Tide"), and Fragma. If you are from my area, you can check this song out on the CD "Break Dis Vol.1" at Tunz. If my review was helpful to you, then don't forget to vote. THANKS!

5.0 out of 5 stars Spectacular remake/remix of lackluster Bryan Adams song, November 6, 2002
By
This review is from: Heaven (Audio CD)
"Heaven" by DJ Sammy and Yanou, Featuring Do (that's a mouthful) is wonderfully upbeat dance song, remade from Bryan Adam's earlier version. Like much of Adams' work, his version of "Heaven" was slow, plodding, and downright sleep-inducing. Electronic upstart DJ Sammy got his hands on this song and, in the tradition of many techno songs, remixed it for dance clubs.

The key that makes this song so amazing, though, is the discovery of young musical ingénue, Do (short for Dominique). Her voice carries this song and makes it uniquely hers'. The video for this song is equally impressive, and it is clear that Do's physical beauty matches the beauty of her voice. She looks like a more 'heavenly' version of LeeLee Sobieski (who is quite a looker in her own right).

What's even more striking is that is that DJ Sammy and Do produce a slower, more romantic version of the song (called "Candlelight Mix") which is even more moving than it's fast-paced counterpart. One can only hope that Do's voice will find a greater audience in the United States and that we can expect more to come from her.

5.0 out of 5 stars the best song, January 18, 2003

this song is STILL my favorite song and when u listen to it, you'll want to dance to it. a lot better than eyra gail's version, cuz Do sounds like an angel in this song. the best mixes on this single are the original, extended one, and the anastasia remixes. i also like the candlelight mix and i LOVE the video, but they weren't on this single. if ur looking for Yanou's Candlelight Mix, its on the Heaven (cd signle) import with bonus video and extra songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven, December 9, 2004

Useless and completely exhilirating all at once, DJ Sammy's revival of Bryan Adam's "Heaven" is a dance music classic, hands-down. The setup couldn't be any more wacked out- a middle-aged Spanish DJ gets a blonde Dutch chick to belt out a cheesy, big synth-riff, hands-in-the-air dance version of a Canadian rocker's arena ballad from the '80s. Fans of the original more than likely found themselves nauseated, and teenagers were bumping this at all their wannabe rave parties. But there's no denying that "Heaven" was a global phenomenon in 2002. The single stormed club charts all over the world, hit No.1 on the British pop charts, but most impressively broke the Top 10 on the US pop charts. It's notoriously difficult for European dance acts to cross over onto the American pop charts, let alone reach the Top 1o ("Heaven" peaked at No.8), but it only serves as proof of the song's inescapable magic. Years from now, listeners will look back on this slice of trivial Euro-disco cheese and relive the memories from this time. Few songs have the power to do so, and "Heaven" is unquestionably one of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, March 11, 2002
This review is from: Heaven (Audio CD)
Thi s a GREAT remake of the 80's hit. It has a fast beat and better than average female vocals. Hopefully this will be as popular as it was in europe. The Green Court Mix is trancey, while the other mixes (with the exception of the extended mix) are harder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven is nice!, June 30, 2002

When I first heard this song I knew it was a cover, but it is so brilliantly different that I couldn't remember how it had originally been done. (No) Thanks to the first reviewer below, I now do remember. I would like to suggest that covering songs is a totally valid and worthy practise (funnily enough I've noticed a few opera stars and concert pianists, not to mention school children, covering Mozart and Beethoven in recent years). When someone is able to see detect something in a song that lets them know that they can take it away and turn it into their own, and they then do that it is a beautiful thing. I love this song to death and can listen to it ten times in a row without getting even slightly sick of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra Length, October 24, 2002

These Remixes are awesome. Especially the extended version for those who can not get enough of the song. It has a very euro sound. I know a lot of you in New York must be confused about the Z100 playing this and 103.5 playing Eyra Gail. It is basically the same song and I do not know how they both did it at the same time but just to set the record straight this is the Z100 version. This one is alot better then the Eyra Gail one. The remixes have more effort put into them. I guess since he is a dee jay. The other seems very artificial and a copy. ALso the attract the new york croud in the other by putting in a freestyle like version and a tracy version. This however is more club pop euro. Please vote for me. Thanks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eurodance Heaven!, August 26, 2002

You know a song was worth covering when the cover version is even better than the original. DJ Sammy has managed not only to improve upon the original, but to create one of the best tracks of 2002 standing on it's own merit! The pace and style of this Euro-Trance offering is very much like DJ Encore's "I See Right Through To You" with a splash of keyboards a-la Robert Miles' "Children" (circa '96). Absolutely stunning work! The remixes were fairly disappointing, however, and the Extended Remix of DJ Sammy's original album/radio version is your best bet. If you absolutely MUST have a remix (and a lengthy one at that!), the Anastasia (yep, Ms. "One Day In Your Life") Remix is the only one worth your time.
