More Hell than Heaven,
By "acraftylady" (Philadelphia, PA United States) - See all my reviews

While the concept for this album is excellent - Meatloaf and Bonnie Tyler doing Steinman - who could ask for more -- the content leaves the listener feeling cheated. The recordings are all shortened [probably radio] versions. The sound is hollow - what, don't they have decent recording studios in Holland? If you are a fan of the original recordings - burn your own CD or make your own tape from all the different albums -- you'll definitely come out ahead. I felt cheated and disappointed. If a negative star rating was available I would have used that.

The songs were cut to pieces to fit them on the CD. Don't bother, the great stuff was just ruined.

Buyer beware!
I bought the disc thinking it was a duets cd. WRONG WRONG WRONG. Anyway, its still a great compi overall. But not worth it if you have collected their works already. Nothing new here.

If you think you are getting a CD of duets between Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler, you are wrong. If you think you are getting a few of the best from two artists with very similar singing qualities and (cos of steinman) similar stlyes of music, you are right. In terms of overall music, anyone who likes either artist will like this. If you expect duets you will be disappointed, as I was, as I think these two powerful singers could have done something really very special. However i guess it was more of a joined hits album that will sell with very little cost to the record company. Good music, good idea, could have been something amazing, shame If you have their albums, don't bother, if you havn't and just want some driving music, consider it.

There's noting missing! You just can't get any bether collection (if you like this kind of rockmusic, composer Jim Steinman-music) like this one! Two of the best artist I ever know, put together their hits on one single record! The songs are of power ballads and heavy rock! And if you are looking for a collections of these artists. Buy this one! It's VERY good! Go for it!

Bonnie is great as always but Meatloaf does not fare as well,
By A Customer
This review is from: Heaven & Hell (Audio CD)
Its defenately nice to have this cd in my collection and Bonnie's speaking part on You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth is absolutely brilliant but I would have preferred more duettes between Bonnie and Meatloaf and I like Bonnie's rendition of Two out Of Three Ain't bad much better than Meatloaf's original. But that is just my personal opinion. The cd is great to listen to but could have done better and that is by no means the fault of the artists.I mean com on you have the two leading artists in the rock industry together for one cd and all you record company guys can come up with is letting them sing songs that are on so many compilation albums that it is not even funny? What is up with that? Why not let them sing some great rock duettes? It would have made this cd something really great.Shame, great concept, great artists but a wasted chance to create the cd of the decade for both Bonnie Tyler and Meatloaf fans by really letting these two artists rock the house together.

It wasn't until I started listening to this CD that I realized that Jim Steinman had written for Bonnie Tyler too. I have always loved both of these singers, I just never pictured them together, but this CD really brings out the similarities in their styles. While they aren't doing duets really, it truely is a great CD to have and has become the one most often in my car CD player now.

I thought this was going to be a duet CD and instead it was Meatloaf and then Bonnie and then Meatloaf again. I guess it's like getting two CD's for the price of one. The only problem is that I'm such a huge Meatloaf fan that I already had all of those songs. I like Bonnie Tyler, but I wouldn't have purchased this had I known that. I thought it would be interesting to have their two voices together instead of just alternating songs between the two.
