4.0 out of 5 stars A contuation of passion, January 5, 2000
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms Alers has the remarkable ability to make the characters come to life. Sometimes and more often than not; you feel like you're a fly on the wall of a real life drama playing out before your eyes. I started the "Hideaway" series out of sequence but caught on after the second book. I am grateful to Ms Alers for mixing the worlds of the african-americans and afro-latins. She enlightens the readers of other former slave countries and their modern day black people of their sucessess despite slavery. Its great to read about afro-latins in Costa Rica (Bahia Brazil and Mexico City) and their romantic relationships. Black people of the Americas have a common thread which is slavery but only culture/language separates us. We should not let language and culture keep us from seeking out each other in friendship and most of all, love. Although this book is the end of the first gen of the Coles; I thought you might re-visit this family and explore the relationships of Josephine and Nancy Cole (sisters of Martin and David, half sib of Joshua) and it would really be a treat to go back to the beginning with relationship of Samuel Claridge Cole and Margurite Josifina Diaz (Cole) and of course Teresa Emily Maldonado (Kirkland). This would be a joyous romantic adventure. Ms Alers, keep up the good work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven Sent is Truly Heavenly, December 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Heaven Sent has you glued to it from the very beginning. The story takes place in Costa Rica, but you'll have to read the book to find out what happens between the two lead characters. If you love romance novels then this is the book to read. A co-worker, who is a native of Costa Rica, read the book and said Rochelle Alers did a great job describing her homeland. My co-worker and I would like to thank her for a book well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, February 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I always enjoy the distinct images of landscape and decor. I was affirmed by the appreciation for various types of physical beauty in people of color and varying age groups. I was very attracted to confident, talented, and wealthy David Cole as well as the men in the Cole family who protect and adore their women. I was delighted by the balance of strength and vulnerablity displayed in the characters. I was warmed by the sense of humor exchanged between David and Serena. I am very happy with the Hideaway Legacy and looking forward to reading more.
