4.0 out of 5 stars A contuation of passion
Ms Alers has the remarkable ability to make the characters come to life. Sometimes and more often than not; you feel like you're a fly on the wall of a real life drama playing out before your eyes. I started the "Hideaway" series out of sequence but caught on after the second book. I am grateful to Ms Alers for mixing the worlds of the african-americans...

2.0 out of 5 stars Struggling
Sorry struggling with this story find it boring. The plot started off well, the romance takes place within days (rolls eyes). Sorry not the best in the early series, totally unbelievable.

4.0 out of 5 stars A contuation of passion, January 5, 2000
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Ms Alers has the remarkable ability to make the characters come to life. Sometimes and more often than not; you feel like you're a fly on the wall of a real life drama playing out before your eyes. I started the "Hideaway" series out of sequence but caught on after the second book. I am grateful to Ms Alers for mixing the worlds of the african-americans and afro-latins. She enlightens the readers of other former slave countries and their modern day black people of their sucessess despite slavery. Its great to read about afro-latins in Costa Rica (Bahia Brazil and Mexico City) and their romantic relationships. Black people of the Americas have a common thread which is slavery but only culture/language separates us. We should not let language and culture keep us from seeking out each other in friendship and most of all, love. Although this book is the end of the first gen of the Coles; I thought you might re-visit this family and explore the relationships of Josephine and Nancy Cole (sisters of Martin and David, half sib of Joshua) and it would really be a treat to go back to the beginning with relationship of Samuel Claridge Cole and Margurite Josifina Diaz (Cole) and of course Teresa Emily Maldonado (Kirkland). This would be a joyous romantic adventure. Ms Alers, keep up the good work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heaven Sent is Truly Heavenly, December 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Heaven Sent has you glued to it from the very beginning. The story takes place in Costa Rica, but you'll have to read the book to find out what happens between the two lead characters. If you love romance novels then this is the book to read. A co-worker, who is a native of Costa Rica, read the book and said Rochelle Alers did a great job describing her homeland. My co-worker and I would like to thank her for a book well written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!, February 3, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I always enjoy the distinct images of landscape and decor. I was affirmed by the appreciation for various types of physical beauty in people of color and varying age groups. I was very attracted to confident, talented, and wealthy David Cole as well as the men in the Cole family who protect and adore their women. I was delighted by the balance of strength and vulnerablity displayed in the characters. I was warmed by the sense of humor exchanged between David and Serena. I am very happy with the Hideaway Legacy and looking forward to reading more.

This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
"Heaven Sent" is David Cole's and Serena Morris-Vega's story. David is the younger brother of Martin Cole, who we met in "Hideaway".

David, a musician in his heart, now turned businessman of the family owned company, Colediz, is on a business trip when he crosses paths with his angel in disguise, Serena. David is injured and Serena helps nurses him back to health. However, their relationship does not stop there, but only begins. Through intrigue, they are together. Serena not only nurses David's wounds and has the magic touch of healing, but she manages to touch his heart. Their romance is like a whirlwind. Love blossoms quickly for them. David realizes that Serena is the woman for him and Serena feels that David is the guy for her. Though she tries to deny the feelings and what's been foretold, she is unable to keep her love for David hidden. To David, Serena is his angel, just what he needs at this time in his life. Indeed, Serena is his angel sent from heaven. No matter what obstacles, they have to face, David realizes that he will do whatever it takes to keep his angel safe where they can forever be under the magical wings of love that's truly been sent from heaven.

From the beginning to the end this was a great book. Rochelle Alers painted such a vivid picture of the characters that you could see them in your mind as you read the words. Simply the best!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Story, February 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
Rochelle Alers continues her Hideaway Series with Heven Sent. She again features very strong characters. Rochelle thoroughly develops the characters right before our eyes. If you have read other stories by Rochelle Alers, the Hideway Series is by far the best. All the men and women of Hideaway are strong personalities on their own. Combined in exotic stories, they are soul-stirring. Weather you are looking for an ethic romance story or just a great story, you will love this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get Read. . . Excellent Story line, September 21, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
As with the entire Hideaway series, this is an excellent book. Rochelle has the ability to write page turners with great romance, great but complex relationships and with added suspense. The entire Hideaway Series should be read and held. One does not find these types of characters with some much strength in many epic novels. It is a must read for anyone but especially if you like reading about comptemporary Africian American characters. By the way, another book is forthcoming in the Hideaway series with the little girl who started it all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something About The Men of Hideaway..., July 2, 2005
By
This review is from: Heaven Sent (Arabesque) (Mass Market Paperback)
I don't know what it is but they're all just so sexy. I read the Hideaway Saga last year and was afraid that I'd never find David's story but when I did manage to find it,I had to have it. This book only helped me to see why I love these books so much. I've since purchased the other books about the sons and daughters of the series with the exception of two: Homecoming and Harvest Moon.

Although the women of this series are all wondeful women,I keep coming back b/c of the men. They're all so passionate, strong, beautiful men that would give up everything to protect their families especially the women they love more than life. It's a beautiful thing to read about it and I think that's why this series stands out. It's also not often you read about incredibly successful African-American families. I love these books so much and I love the men even more.

Again Alers presents an irrestiable man from the Cole family! David is all that and bag of chips! But Serena is just the woman David needs. They really did bring out the best in each other. Again a very enjoyable book by Alers. And Please, keep the saga coming, much love Alers!
