Having read all the Cadfael series by Edith Pargeter (writing as Ellis Peters), then visiting Shrewsbury and instantly knowing my way around the city, I have been very impressed with her ability to create an image in the reader's mind. She claimed that The Heaven Tree Trilogy was her best writing and most fully accomplished her goal. Her luxuriant language equals and often surpasses Winston Churchill's. She is always a pleasure to read, and I totally agree with her that The Heaven Tree Trilogy is her best.
