a different kind of story,
By A Customer
This review is from: Heaven Or Vegas [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This movie is unusual and very captivating. It is about people who are getting away from living indecent lives in Las Vegas - as opposed to other typical storylines of people on their way towards living indecent lives in Las Vegas...Navy (Grieco) is a very handsome but depressed male prostitute. He yearns for a more fulfilling and meaningful way of life. He realizes that he needs to get out of Vegas so he plans to go to Montana. Beautiful and childlike Rachel (Bleeth) is a drug addicted strip club dancer. (Though she looks "out of place" and stands out by the way she dresses compared to the other, less clothed background dancers.) She is obsessed with fairytales and daydreams about being a damsel in distress who is rescued by a knight in shining armour. Rachel's dream actually comes true when she is being abused by a drug pusher in a parking lot and Navy boldly comes to her rescue. She learns of her knight's plans for Montana and tries to persuade him to take her along with him. Reluctantly he complies. Navy casually becomes a positive influence on her. On the way to Montana they stop to see Rachel's welcoming (but indifferent) Mormon father in Utah. Rachel's father introduces her and Navy to his a new wife who has two daughters. Rachel and Navy relate to the other characters and each other with emotion and depth. While staying at her father's home, Rachel is reminded of her mother's suicide (the cause of her and her alcoholic brother's disturbing childhood past)and Navy feels he has found "Montana" as he is surrounded with acceptance and comfort from the community, especially in the arms of Rachel's eldest step-sister, Lily. Rachel reacts self destructively with drugs, liquor, and involvement with psychotic "tenters", who are like homeless hippies. She does find a tender connection with her youngest step-sister Paige, who is loyal, supportive and sweet to her. After a surpising(...trying not to give the ending away)series of events and frightening, near fatal incidents there is a final and meaningful happy ending. THERE ARE MANY, MANY CHARMING AND HUMOROUS SCENES in between the more serious and dramatic ones. There are a couple of scenes in which the acting could have been a little better of both Grieco and Bleeth, but only because I think they seemed to be "over" acting; particularly when Navy is in the kitchen getting yelled at by his "ex-boss" and when Rachel is making her wish at a small creek and her eyes are glazed over. I MUST add that during their road trip, the BACKGROUND SCENERY WITH the BACKGROUND MUSIC is INCREDIBLE! Highly impressive!

Are you kidding me?,

I found this old video in my piles of old VHS tapes. At first, it seemed like an ok movie when I joined my husband watching it. But really! This movie was like watching an acting class. Of course, Jasmine Bleeth did a good job of acting lost and crazy and her co-star is very handsome and a good actor as well. But they had so little to work with in terms of the story-line. Every little thing became implausible and silly.
The choices everyone made were in most cases idiotic and after a while (despite the two decent lead actors) you just watched as if you were watching various actors acting. I guess it pulled you in a bit in terms of wishing that the movie would be legitimate because the story actually had some potential. Take the part where the gigolo's older woman arrives at the law-abiding Christian household (being escorted by a police officer who helped her track him down). She yells at him while everyone listened in the other room. Come on - that wouldn't ever happen! The whole hippie thing was really stupid. Anyway, I'm at a loss for words... if you want to view this old movie to get an idea on how to put in as many implausible features into a movie in one fail swoop - give it a try... there are tons here.

You have 2 very lost, very screwed up people. Richard Grieco and yasmeen bleeth was hookers, well i know she was, but with richard it was hard to tell. Richard was trying to find a better life something better than vegas, a way out of vegas. And he gets stuck with yasmeen. a screwed up woman on drugs who acts like a child. Her family are mormons and when the mom died (in a messed up way) her family unit feel apart. She went to men, drugs and vegas. The two came together....not on richards part. he wasnt found of her, he was trying to run away from his female pimp (i know doesn't that sound odd) so he left vegas. yasmeen wanted to come, he didnt, he felt sorry for her so he let her tag along. I have always liked grieco and in this film he was good. and yasmeen really did look like she was on drugs.

It Was Heaven When This Movie Was Finally Over!!!,
This review is from: Heaven Or Vegas [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is a very tedious and tiring movie about two losers who seek to escape Las Vegas in search of a better life. Yasmin Bleeth's character is a flakey chick who kind of reminds me of my ex wife which is one reason why I divorced her and am now happily single. She seems to spend most of this movie sticking things into her mouth wether they be cigarettes, gum or lollipops. Maybe she needs Therapy for an Oral Fixation? So these two losers head for their "Ideal Shangri La" which is supposed to be Montana but they realize they have traded the lights of Vegas fo the petty small mindedness of a country townfolk. I give this movie 5 stars because the vistas in it look impressive.

Two beautiful people and an average story,

Yasmeen Bleeth and Richard Grieco work beautifully together. They made a great couple. The movie itself has an ok but average storyline. Though, one has seen worse of both (Ultimate deception), so this movie is still one of the finer ones

This movie probably could have been much better than it was. It just came across as weak and not that good. The acting is okay, but that's really about it. A movie that seemed to try, but for the most part is forgettable. A lot of the movie was just unclear. Try something else.
