Heaven's Fury,
By Lesa Jones E.J "~~Lesa!~~" (Milwaukee, WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heaven's Fury (G Unit) (Paperback)
First time reading a book written by Meta Smith. I have to say I will have to add her to my authors list.
This was a great read, read this in less then one day. At first while reading it I was wondering why is it called Heaven's Fury because I was totally waiting for Heaven to stop being naive about her husband. Well Heaven is a church going woman and she is married to Rico who really isn't into the church thing but, he says he loves Heaven. Heaven is so naive about her husband Rico cheating ways and about him not in the drug business. Rico has another thang going on with a old girlfriend Gloria that loves him to death. She finds out she is pregnant by Rico thinking all will be good with her and Rico but, Rico had another thing for Gloria. Gloria happens to run into Heaven at a store. She decided to talk to Heaven and get to be friendly with her so that Heaven can open up to her. Rico has this man name Black from Gary Indiana that wants to take over Rico's drug business by all means. Gloria wants reverge on losing her baby so she sets off to go find Black so that Black can kill Rico and Heaven. At the end of the book is where all the FURY in Heaven finally broke loose. I was totally waiting for Heaven to come to her senses. Overall book was great. :)

Heaven is a good girl who was hooked up with the wrong guy. Who lied and cheated on her with every moment he could with the most scandulous woman ever put on God green earth. When the table is turn and Heaven finds out who she really is she gets the ultimate revenge.
Meta Smith is and up and coming Author who is taking the literary world by storm. Watch out Nikki because she is now my second best author. Keep up the good work.

This is the best G-Unit Book!,
By Me (Miami, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Heaven's Fury (G Unit) (Paperback)
This was the story of a woman who finds out her husband is not the good man he portrayed himself to be. Heaven has to decide whether to believe her husband or her heart and gut. How many women out there can relate to that? I can! I don't want to give away the plot but this was just like a soap opera on paper! A true page-turner and roller coaster ride of drama.
This is the best of all the G-Unit books! The other ones seemed like a kid wrote them but Meta Smith makes me want to tell all the other writers out there to step up their game just like Nikki Turner said about her first book the Rolexxx Club. Other writers have to step up to match her. I am a serious Meta Smith fan. Her books are so realistic and captivating. I am so serious she is the best at what she does. It's not like all the other hood fiction out there. Every book just keeps getting better and better! Keep up the good work! I'm a fan for life.

Back to the future for Meta Smith,
This review is from: Heaven's Fury (G Unit) (Paperback)
Meta Smith writes movies.
As any reader of her work can attest, Meta's gift to the literary world is her insistence on a diverse palette of colors. Fans of the hip hop genre will recall the change in the music video scene ushered in by Hype Williams. More colors, more action...a more cinematic approach to shooting music videos. This is what Meta Smith brings to urban literature. This book however, is decidedly different in tone when compared to her previous works. In one sense, it is a return to the grit that characterized her freshman effort, "The Rolexx Club". Still, she maintains forward progress in this novel...gently walking the line between The Rolexx Club and Queen of Miami in terms of the raw descriptions of her character's sensual exploits. In reading this book, one gets the impression that Meta is finding her own niche and balance between her scholarly leanings as a college educated writer...and the demands of her young but expanding audience. This novel is not as layered as Queen of Miami ... but this time around she explores each layer in more detail. The story of Heaven Diaz is a street level sound track. Its a head nodding page turner, and if you don't get excited every time you hear ` Check the Rhyme ` by a Tribe Called Qwest , this book isn't for you. It was written with the big screen in mind, and perhaps ( given her association with G Unit Books) , Meta will get an opportunity to showcase this work in full color. Fans of the genre will love it....and perhaps be persuaded to grow with her as she continues her rise. Pick up a copy. BIG

(3.5 stars ) A Woman Scorned,
This review is from: Heaven's Fury (G Unit) (Paperback)
Heaven Diaz was raised as a good Catholic girl who would grow up to be a dutiful wife. When Heaven married the man of her dreams Ricardo, she thought that all of her prayers had been answered. Heaven has all of the best material things that money can buy, but all she wants is more of her husband's time. Her world comes crashing down around her when she finds out the truth about where the money for her and her husband's lavish lifestyle is really coming from. To further confuse things, Heaven meets this mysterious new friend that leads her into a violent drug war overnight. Will Heaven make it out alive?
Heaven's Fury is an entertaining novel by Meta Smith. Smith crafted a classic tale of what happens when a woman marries the wrong man. This story gave readers an interesting glimpse into the Latino culture and how different attitudes toward men and relationships can affect every day life. Although this novel was chock full of non-stop drama, Heaven's actions in this story were so shocking that it came off as being rather unbelievable. All in all, Heaven's Fury is still a decent novel that is for anyone that is looking for a quick page-turner. Reviewed by Radiah Hubbert for Urban Reviews |
