One of the best film scores of recent memory., June 20, 2004
This review is from: Heaven's Prisoners (1996 Film) (Audio CD)
Many people think of a film score as a soundtrack but that's not the case. The film score is simply the instrumental "background music" throughout the film, and this compilation by George Fenton is one of the best in recent memory (for a very underrated movie!). With a beautiful mix of blues, jazz, and other influences, Fenton's music does a fantastic job of setting the scenes in the movie itself, playing to the mood of the characters as well as could be expected. Ironically, the best songs of all are the opening theme and the end credits theme. You'll find yourself listening to the front title song over and over, and is perfectly complimented by the end credits theme.
All in all, this is a film score that you can find yourself listening to time and time again.
