A creeping bass line and a guitar with heavy effects and distortion probably goes back to Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones on "Dazed And Confused" from Led Zeppelin's first album; a psychedelic template many have used since

Heavy As A Death In The Family by Les Rallizes
Denudes is not nearly as song oriented as Led Zeppelin: The entire disc is comprised of acid-ish improvisations built on the bass and six string.

There are enough permutations here, and enough drama through the musical dynamics, to keep this from becoming a jam album. The tracks all sound similar, but this is the thread that runs through the album, not lack of imagination.

Fans of neo--or for that matter heavy 1960's psych will want to get this. You can be a fan of Led Zeppelin or a fan of the late, great Broadcast and still like Heavy As A Death Of A Family, and that wide net is one appeal of this adventurous band

If Suicide and the Velvet Underground made music together I'm pretty sure it would sound something like this.
