5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT VALUE --- Heavy Duty Industrial Tool, November 11, 2008
This review is from: Heavy Duty 1240w Electric Demolition Jack Hammer (Misc.)
I purchased this demolition hammer about 1 year ago for some heavy duty demolition work. I have been very pleased with its performance.
There are larger demolition hammers available costing much more money but the advantage of this tool it that it is lighter in weight than the others (meaning less fatigue) and about ¼ the price. The most important thing to remember is to remember to keep the OIL level filled at the proper level for proper lubrication. The only servicing you might have to do over the years is to replace the electrical cord and plug. I always replace my tools with a 12 gauge wire. This cost me about $5.00 and took 10 minutes to replace. Most import Chinese tools are manufactured with undersized electrical wires to plug into an outlet. The type of Chisel this hammer uses is a bit specialized and not available at many stores. THEY ARE AVAILABLE HERE AT AMAZON.
Replacement Chisels for this Demolition hammer are available here at Amazon at a cost of about $20.00 (plus shipping) per set of 2. To find search at Amazon - Heavy-Duty Chisel Bits for Electric Demolition Hammer - Jacks Tool Shed. They even have a Shovel attachment to fit this Demolition Hammer for hard pan dirt or clay. I own this Demolition Hammer and it is an invaluable tool to my company. A great deal too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value, April 12, 2008

I bought my jack hammer through Amazon but it actually shipped from Jack's Tool Shed. This jack hammer is great value, I live just outside Austin which means you have two inches of dirt and then solid lime stone. The jack hammer makes light work of braking up the rock while still being relatively small and light as far as jack hammers go. One of the contractors that did work at my house was so impressed with mine that he ordered one too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beats renting one, January 6, 2009

I removed a 3ft by 8ft pad of 4inch thick concrete with this. Worked good. Little tip is to let the jackhammer do the work dont try to force it through the concrete. And now I own a jackhammer so I will never have to rent one. Definitely made in china workmanship but it works.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't beat it for the cost, May 28, 2010
This review is from: Heavy Duty 1240w Electric Demolition Jack Hammer (Misc.)
While this is definitely made in China, don't let that fool you. It is heavy duty and will probably compete with the $500 & $600 electric jackhammers. How long it will live is unknown. Getting parts may be sketchy, since you really don't know who manufactures it. The metal toolbox that it comes in is built decently, but there is no padding, so I would recommend gluing some foam in the box to cushion everything. I used it to break up an old, old, hard concrete step that had been in the way for the last 12 years. In 15 minutes, it was broken into football sized chunks and the jack hammer wasn't even breathing hard.

EToolsCity is great. The tool is supposed to ship with 2 extra brushes, but mine were missing. I contacted the seller and they mailed me 2 brushes, no questions asked. They also sell parts and other bits. I definitely recommend them.

If you are going to need a jack hammer more than once, may as well buy this one and have it around.

It works ok for the price. probably would not last long for everyday use but for the home handyman it is fine. The lubricating oil is rather pricey.

id like to first start off by saying i was very hesitant in purchasing this jack hammer ive been in heavy contruction for the last 20 years and only have purchased name brand tools such has hilti , dewalt and so forth..ive been doing massive renovation on my home and realized that ive come into alot of contact in breaking up cement and i usto rent the bosch electric jack hammer from homedepot at 65 dollars a day... so when i fell apon this i figured for price id give it a shot! Well let me tell you homeowners who lookin to break up a stoop , side walk , driveway etc.... this hammer is absolutly fantastic...ive had this tool a month and broke up my driveway which is 20x40 , a side walk that is 60x5 both in being 6 inches deep and two enormous stoops... so i would say if they cant determine the life expectancy of this tool i definitely have to say i got my moneys worth and some! i absolutly recommend this tool to all my friends and coworkers! sledge hammers out niki hammer is in!! Best of luck to you all!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy, December 28, 2011

I am digging out a coal basement. I want to open up the area so we can add 300 sq ft of finished living space.
The area is mostly rock with some rubble and large sections of 6-10" thick slabs of stone.
I started by renting a jack hammer and was amazed at how the rock fractured for easy removal.
Given the amount of work needed to finish this project, renting a jack hammer was not a cost effective choice.
Looking around to buy a jack hammer I saw units for $1000, way over my budget.
This jack hammer at $180 fit my budget. The reviews were very complementary and right on the mark.
I have removed over 11,000 pound of dirt and rock. The jack hammer has worked fantastically.
Since the unit is a bit heavy --no heavier than the rental unit-- I would not recommend it for horizontal work.

I highly recommend this unit for demolition work.
