4.0 out of 5 stars Entombed had better watch their back, July 24, 2010

Black Breath take all the great musical elements you love from the classic Entombed albums "Left Hand Path" and "Clandestine" while adding in the punk/hardcore fusion of bands like Trap Them. If you are looking for a great album to take with you to the top of a belltower and pick people off, this is the way to go. Highly recommended.

.....like hardcore punk? Do you like the first few Slayer Albums? How about Kill 'em All? Maybe even a touch of Danzig III's dark guitar tones? I do. I am not huge into metal, especially the newer, super technical, weird time signature stuff, but if you like balls to the wall thrash metal, with some pretty sweet guitar solos and drumming that will make you want to bang your head and possibly pick up the nearest item and throw it through your window, than Heavy Breathing is for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars No holds barred straight-forward riffage., January 9, 2011

This review is from: Heavy Breathing (Audio CD)
In recent years, the line between parody and homage has been growing thinner, with many bands paying tribute to 80's pioneers in workmanlike yet uninspiring ways that in some cases makes me question whether metal as a genre has regressed, or at worst self consciously emulate the sounds of their predecessors without seemingly having any original ideas themselves. This band of relative newcomers from Seattle clearly wears their influences loud and does so in a really engaging fashion. There's a huge hardcore influence on the vocals and drum approach while the vintage buzzsaw (aka the "Scandinavian" tone introduced by pioneers Entombed) guitar lines lovingly sound like a greatest-hits pastiche of the mid-80s to early 90's underground metal scene. The band sound alive and violent.
