5.0 out of 5 stars Off the Hook!!
This cd has some tight beats and tenacious lyrics. The Heavy Weight Lover has come up on this one. Waterbed Hev didn't really get me, but this one... I'm still trying to think of a good word for it. But it is definitely a work of art. Keep giving us the beats, Hev. Muchos amor!

3.0 out of 5 stars First Heavy D Album I bought in a while...
It's not a bad album, but it's definitely not a great album either. I bought the album basically on the stength of the "On Point" track with Big Pun and Eightball

I also enjoyed the "Dancing in the Night" which was an unexpected but pleasant suprise.

After that though, most of the tracks are fairly mediocre.

3.0 out of 5 stars pretty good, December 28, 1999
This review is from: Heavy (Audio CD)
heavy has been up&down with his work but he comes off surprisingly well on this disc.it's a pretty good disc in 99 would have been cutting edge in 89.but heavy is tuff enough to last.and he still has skills.he is also good at finding unknown talent and can definitely drop some flavor to someone elses track.this disc doesn't sound commercial.for me it was different from the usual heavy.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the track dedicated to his brother "Ask Heaven", August 3, 1999

This review is from: Heavy (Audio CD)
I heard the track "Ask Heaven" while Hev was on his pre-release promo tour. The lyrics were raw and chilling and in some strange way, comforting! After the track played, Hev told the DJ, "Donnie Simpson," that it was dedicated to the memory of his brother who died a few years ago on Thanksgiving Day due to an overdose. The track sort of labored on my MIND a few hours after I heard it because there were so many parallels on the track. For example, Chico DeBarge singing on the track is a passionate addition since he too has experienced jail and the death of a family member from living in the "Fast Life." To make a long story short, anyone who can tell a story that you can follow in rhythm and lyrics deserves to be recognized! Much love to you Hev and the memory of your brother.

5.0 out of 5 stars I like the songs"Listen" and "Don't Stop"., July 21, 1999

I reviewed the 5 songs on the net, and I like them. My fiance and I were in a record store last week and seen the CD, we thought that it was his greatest hits. But I guess it wasn't. The next time we go in there I'll buy it. I listened to the song "Don't Stop" with Q-Tip and it sounds good. Who ever is down with Heavy D. go on down to your record store and pick it up. You'll like ! Support our Black Brothers and Sisters!
