4.0 out of 5 stars I'm hungry for popcorn April 13, 2012

This CD sounds as if Jeff the Brotherhood was the offspring of The Ramones and Queens of the Stone Age... and Black Sabbath babysits every once in a while. The songs are lyrically thin but kinda catchy. Some songs sound reminiscent, but the band always changes the timing or something up to make you say, "Wow, that was kinda cool and different." This album is like a guy selling popcorn on the beach. It's not the best popcorn, but it is really good popcorn when you are at the beach and hungry for popcorn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy This Album Now September 21, 2011

If you haven't heard Jeff the Brotherhood, you will soon. This band will be huge. They have just signed to Third Man Records (Jack White's Label), but all of their current albums are released on Infinity Cat, their own label. They are being named dropped by huge name stars, like Jay-Z on his blog. This is not a rap album though. This is glorious psychedelic hard rock. These guys used to play in Be Your Own Pet, but Jeff the Brotherhood, is a much stronger band than Be Your Own Pet. Their last two albums, Heavy Days and We Are the Champions, are by far their best where the band (only made up of two brothers) are hitting their stride. Of those two albums, Heavy Days, is the better of the two. It's an album with strong lyrics, strong drums, and phenomenal guitar solos. You won't hear Jeff the Brotherhood on the radio, which is a shame, but it's only because the songs are not clear cut pop songs. This album is phenomenal driving garage rock. Additionally, if you have a chance to see these guys live, do it. They put on an energy packed live show that has everyone on their feet. I had the chance to see them open for another bigger name band. I was excited to see the bigger name band, but Jeff the Brotherhood, blew them out of the water. I don't want to say the name of the other band because they were good, but they did not bring the energy and excitement of Jeff the Brotherhood. If you are into rock, you want to buy this album while you can. Then, you can always tell your friends, you were into them before they were huge.

4.0 out of 5 stars the 5th album that people think is the 1st album November 25, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Jeff the Brotherhood is a two-man band from Nashville. Jake and Jamin Orrall are brothers, and it's amazing how much sound there is for a 2-piece band. They are hard to classify into a single genre -- there are elements of punk, psychedelic rock, grunge and a little bit of pop sprinkled in.

"Heavy Days" is their 5th album. I first heard of them in August of 2012 when I was at Jack White's Studio, Third Man Records, in Nashville, Tennessee. This album was playing and I was impressed at song after song. Tracks 5, 6 and 7 are the absolute bedrock of this album: "The Tropics," "Heavy Krishna," and "Bone Jam." If you like the Jack White, The Black Keys or early Pearl Jam, you'll enjoy Jeff the Brotherhood. This is the album to start with.
