Punches excellent. Better than old Tandy Leather ones.

Minimal effort to cut through 1/4 inch belt leather.

Pouch good only to keep punches from rolling around in shipping box. This was reported in other reviews.

I wasn't buying a pouch, but the punches, so it wasn't a problem for me. I will make a leather roll up pouch.

If you want top grade sharp punches, it is a bargain. If a fancy carrying case is high priority, look elsewhere.

It is a nice and inexensive set of punchers - they are sturdy, heavy, and sharp. The thin plastic pouch is laughable - it was already torn when I receive it, and it is clear that it cannot hold such heavy objects. But, overall I am satisfied with this purchase.

These punches are just what I needed. They are sharp and work well. The first time I used one I was hitting it like it was a nail, but it went through on the first hit so that wasn't necessary. That's how sharp they are. I am very satisfied with this item. The price is great also. I don't know why the other reviewers were worried about the plastic pouch. The punches came in a nice cardboard box so I threw the pouch away. If someone is worried about them rusting when they get wet, then don't let them get wet. Spray them with WD-40 and wipe them well. I got a great deal.

I bought these punches for making holes in tarps where I wanted to put grommets.

I set up a piece of hard wood on my bench (the wood is actually a piece of red oak flooring unfinished) and proceeded to punch holes through a silver tarp along the edge where the tarp is folded over and sewn. I made it through about 35 holes before the punch cutting edge collapsed, chipped and folded in on itself.

The part that is amusing is these punches are advertised to be able to punch holes in metal. When they can't even stand up to a cloth tarp on wood.

I have bought low end tools before but these are the lowest quality punches I have ever come across, you could get a better set at the dollar store.

First off, these punches are not sized in Imperial measure, they are metric. So if you are looking for something exactly 1/2 inch....1/4 inch, etc. you are out of luck. If you drill a half inch hole to insert a half inch punch item you are making it is going to fit loose and look like crap. Seems the biggest problem concerning tools today is some are metric( made in China as these are), and others are imperial and made in USA. Very frustrating. Most metric sizes coincide with the imperial 64th inch scale. With that being said I'm not afraid to beat the living tar out of these for what they cost me. The case they came in didn't even make it through removing the tape that kept it closed. As I peeled the tape off the case tore apart with it. So far I have cut a few mother of pearl discs for inlays and just for fun tried some felt. They won't cut anything soft so don't buy them if that's what your intention is. El cheapo! When I toss these I won't even shed a tear and should get many years use out of them.

Okay, I agree with other reviewers: the case is worthless. It's cheap plastic (mine was falling apart in the box upon receipt). That aside (and my 5-star rating does not include the case), I found the punches to be of excellent quality. I do leatherworking and they punch through the thickest of leathers (15-16 weight) without a problem. I highly recommend this set. Throw the case in the garbage.

I read about the bag they come in being kind of "cheap", but to be honest, it's the same kind of bag a lot of these tools come in. I've been using it to cut through thin aluminum sheets, and it works perfectly.

Set came with a duplicate 3/8" punch and was missing a 7/16" punch. The company that Amazon used did not respond to my inquiries about making this right.

These are rough quality Chinese tools but solidly built and good value for the low price. The plastic pouch came pre-destroyed, but the cardboard box works. These punches are sharp enough for soft materials, but for brittle/difficult materials you may need to sharpen. The small ones can be chucked into a drill press and sharpened with a hard sanding block and fine paper, I sharpened one of the bigger ones in a lathe chuck using the same block.

If you're doing production work or time is money, you probably want to spring for a higher end set. For occasional or hobbyist use these are tough to beat.

These hollow punches were more of a bargain than I expected. They are sharp and do an excellent job of circles from leather,and gasket materal only to mention a couple. In other words I like them. Quick delivery too.
