Better quality then I expected. The safety guard handle is actually attached using nuts and bolts instead of rivets. The blade itself appears to be of decent quality but certainly not on par with Cold Steel. I like a machete with most of its weight forward to maximize chopping power so this one makes you work a little harder because it's more evenly balanced.

The Good: The machete is built well, from the metal itself to a solidly mounted handle. The saw works very well. I bought this machete because of the handguard. I've barked my knuckles many times using machetes and the guard does a great job of protecting my hand.

The Bad: The sheath needs some hard plastic inside so that the saw teeth don't grab inside. The grip is shaped funny in that the forefinger part is smaller in diameter. This makes for an awkward grip when swinging. I don't feel to bad about this since it makes a great thumb grip when reversed to saw.

The blade could have been sharper, but I've bought knives that were more dull.

Interestingly, both sides of the blade are sharpened at the tip.

This is a great buy for the money. The only reason it doesn't get another star is the funny grip. This is a great machete for emergency or infrequent use.
