There are still many years of life left in them, and they are only a fraction of the cost of similar material! There is an advertisement on one side, and the other side is plain black. The tarp material is 100% waterproof and will not tear. Since it is 3-Ply vinyl, it is 20x stronger than the cheaper poly tarps on the market. Applications include: Hay Tarps, Lumber Tarps, Steel Tarps, Marinas, Concrete & Construction Tarps, Shop Curtains, Vapor Barriers, Roof Covers, Dust and Paint containment, Warehouse Dividers, Drop Cloths, Gym Floor Covers, Liners, Pond Liners, Tents, Bags, Movie Screens and Much More!!!! The tarps are in great condition and have very minimal wear, if any, associated with outdoor signage. They have 3-inch channel pockets that run along all four sides of the tarp. The channels allow you to run pipe, cable or rope through them for even distribution. There are small notches every few feet on the channel so you can feed the cable or pipe through. The tarps do not have grommets. However, you can easily add them with a grommet kit from a hardware store. Other ideas are to use Grip Clips or other industrial clips found at a hardware store. This is a very heavy duty tarp. The 48' by 14' tarp I ordered was indicated to weight about 70 to 75 lbs., and I believe it.

The tarp is very thick and relatively stiff. One side has the colourful advertising, the other is flat black.

When viewed from the underside looking up towards the sky, my tarp seems to have abundant tiny pinholes, but these don't interfere with my use to cover a motorhome (since it slopes and all the water just runs off).

Only two edges of my tarp (the long edges, which were at the top and bottom of the advertising) have a sewn fold. The other two are overlapped and sewn, but don't have the fold/pocket. This also worked out fine for me since I secured the tarp on the long sides only. The sewn fold has numerous, regularly spaced small through-holes (presumably where it was attached and hung) and a number of short diagonal slashes (possibly used for inserting rods or supports).

All in all, a very robust item that is generally consistent with the advertising description and satisfies my needs.
