Heavy Gauge is awesome!,

I highly recommend this CD to people with good taste in music.
Glay is my favorite Japanese band and this CD is excellent. Many of the songs on this album were singles, like "Survival", "Winter, Again" and Be With You. There are a lot of great songs here that weren't singles, including one of my personal favorites, "Will Be King". I have listened to this CD over and over many times and I still love it.

The BEST CD,
By A Customer
This review is from: Heavy Gauge (Audio CD)
I absolutely love Glay. Their punk rock vocals and music make every song terrific. I believe "Survival" was one of the most popular Japanese songs of 1999. I also like their song "Winter Again" and "Yuuwaku." The guys of Glay are real musicians and you can enjoy their songs even if you don't understand Japanese.

Heavy Gauge is one of GLAY's strongest albums,

There are lots of GLAY fans out there who bash this album, but it's easily one of their best. Just by themselves, the guitar parts in this album are amazing. The complicated layering and rythyms that only Takuro and Hisashi can devise are amazing on this album. Teru takes his voice to new heights and Jiro plays far more interesting basslines than usual. Plus, the singles Be with you and Winter, Again are two of GLAY's best. Ikigai (no. 11), is probably GLAY's best album track on any of their albums (with the possible exception of TWO BELL SILENCE or maybe Hit the World Chart!) I HIGHLY recommend buying this album, especially if you like to listen to ROCK.

Good for the experienced GLAY fan but...,

This is GLAY's most recent album. Of course it's a great album, but not their best. For a long time GLAY fan, this album is absolutely essential for you collection. Of course every fan of GLAY will want all their albums and singles! However, if you are a person who is looking into GLAY for the first time, I do not recommend this album. As this is not their typical sound, you may get mislead. If this will be your first time experiencing GLAY, it would be better for you to buy PURE SOUL first. They have other albums before this, but PURE SOUL and HEAVY GAUGE are the most available and most recent. (So push your back button and check it out!) Overall, Heavy Gauge will be much better for the long time fan of GLAY than for someone who is not so familiar with them. GLAY FOREVER!

it has charm, but not enough,

i have owned this cd for a few years now, basically since it came out, and at first i was really excited about it. i had loved glay back then, and all of their songs. but after listening to this CD again recently, it's really lost it's charm. unless you are a hardcore glay fan, this may be a disappoiting glay CD. actually, most people thought this CD was not up to glay standards. and i agree, it has the same style, but not as many great songs on it like say, pure soul, or beloved. the only songs that i find really memorable are "winter again", "happiness", and "will be king". the first track is a bit interesting, and the video well, the video is a bit cheesy, but it's alright. as you may or may not know, glay has been getting steadily worse in their songs. their "global communication" single was terrible, and i don't recommend it. But as far as this album goes, before i wonder off subject, i recommend listening to it, but not buying it for this high a price. you could easily get it for much less at yesasia.com or even CDjapan. it's glay alright, but without their old shine.

i've been a Glay fan for quite sometime now, and i do hope they bring their music to the USA. I prefer listening to them is because they actually sing in their songs? rather than shout and scream like limp bizkit (sorry if u're a fan of theirs..) and korn or so. But seriously, this cd was just another great release of theirs! and it glows in the dark =)

I`d recommend this album, as Glay do indeed rock, but I think if you`re interested you should try getting hold of `Review-Best of Glay` first. Takuro`s been listening to a bit too much Oasis on this one, but besides the slight whininess of `Happiness` (a big hit single none the less), I`d say it`s a great album.

This is the Japanese form of hard rock. This band is he kind of rock band that is needed in the world. This cd has some nice sounds and trippin melodies. A must buy for rock lovers.

Alright, this review's a little late but hey, reviews about good albums are better late than never. I bought this back in 1999 a week after it came out, then a relatively new fan of GLAY and hey, the sound's good. If you're looking for heavy rock sounds then check out tracks FATSOUNDS (suggestive!), LEVEL DEVIL. Title track HEAVY GAUGE came with a PV that fits it awfully well and wow, I like the violin part. The Brit influence can be somewhat heard since GLAY recorded this album in UK. My favorite track however, has gotta be SURVIVAL, though they didn't put the original version here. Good album for any GLAY fan and non-GLAY fan! GLAY, gambatte!!
