for changing my focus from my weight to far more important measures of good health! Now let's hope the world follows suit! I showed this book to my doctor and TO MY AMAZEMENT - he was in full agreement with its principles and practices (now if I can just get him to stop weighing me every time I go there).
It is just plain common sense - everyone who has ever battled with their weight needs to realize that weight is not the enemy and to give up that war and focus on their health. The scale doesn't measure anything of substance! Again, thanks...

I saw reported a 12 year study which validates everything that is said by Seiden and Bilett. I'm much happier now since I've forgotten my weight and pursued the other simple life-style changes this book recommends.
It was liberating to throw away the scale!

A new look at the preponderance of the medical concern regarding weight. Dr. Seiden looks at significant health factors that in all likelihood outweigh - no pun intended! - how heavy a person is. . . or isn't! I found the glossary particularly helpful and enlightening.

As a Life Coach and RN, I am continually working with clients on better strategies for healthier living. I've long been a proponent of removing the word "diet" from our vocabulary. It's a four letter word that dooms us to failure the minute we try to execute a weight loss plan. It's such a relief to find Seiden and Bilett's book. It's straight talk that gets down to the reality of what's healthy and what's not in our dietary lifestyles. This is a simple, yet educated way to help you get on the right path to better health, no matter what your weight or weight loss goals. I highly recommend this straightforward book on healthy living for the 21st century. Educate yourself today.

Have you been on every diet fad that has come along in the past decades only to lose a few pounds and then regain them and a few more as soon as you left the diet?
Yo-yo dieting is probably more harmful than the weight taken off. We wrote this book because weight is really a poor indicator of your health status, yet people and even doctors hype weight as the most important quality of a person's fitness and value. In fact, there are many better indicators of your health status, none of which necessarily change with your weight. Get these other indicators in line and your health status will dramatically improve without having to change your weight at all. You'll be far better off is you forget your weight and get fit.
