5.0 out of 5 stars Michael Hampton! Way Overdue!
This is a incredibe CD. Michael Hampton has to be one of the greatest guitar players in the music industry. Should have released a solo joint many years ago. Jimi, Eddie Hazel, Van Halen, would all be proud of this genius. Funk is on the one and all over this master guitarist debut CD! P-funk would not be the P without Michael Hampton!! Great CD!!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Heavy on Metal and not on Funk
This CD was not worth all the money I paid for it. Hampton could have left "Funkasson" out of the title. I was expecting to hear something that sounded at least as good as Axiom Funk or Some of Eddie's material. I felt like I was robbed. I also lightened my comments in respect of Amazon's review guidelines.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Heavy Metal Funkasson (Audio CD)
yes if you want to explore black heavy metal in 2000 and beyond check this out, michael hampton is a funk pioneer been playing with funkadelic since 1974. if you jimi hendrix, and eddie hazel was bad check out kidd funkadelic, and you will learn (...) folks heavy metal is not dead. mike is bad, especially get this if you're tired of mainstream (stuff) like blink 182, matchbox 20,korn, icp, gwar, and the boy girl groups we see everyday on certain music channels. chronic eggae rocks, this whole cd kicks tail from sun up to sun down, mike hampton will rock in yo town.

I was disapointed ! I'm an old funkateer and I have heard all the funky stuff from Bootsy, Clinton, The All Stars, Funcadelic, Hazel and at least M.Hampton. I know he could do better -- he shows nothing of his talent, I mean he can do the "Maggot Brain", he plays it note for note. This was nothing but a bad demoversion of some songs, that are not worth to be heard more then 1 time -- sorry, for ... it would have been ok, but not for that prize!!! TS at...

3.0 out of 5 stars not bad, October 27, 2006

I love Michael Hampton. I have since he joined parliment/funkadelic back in the 70's. He's a real talent! Is this a Funk CD? NO. So if you are a vintage fan of his parliment days, you might be a bit disappointed. Then again..... I appreciate Kidd Funkadelic for his GUITAR chops, and he did NOT disappoint me! I was looking for something that I could bop my head to, and pick up my axe and start playing. Songs like "Cracked up soldier" easily fit the bill. If you can find the same CD entitled the "domestic trip" you'll find a version of Maggot Brain that is great. Eddie Hazel? No, it's Michael Hampton, but he holds his own. If you can find this CD at a reduced price and you like guitar music, definitely pick it up. It's a good addition to a guitar players library. FUNKADELIC fans? I'd say go for it. If you liked "tales of kidd funkadelic", "Let's take it to the stage", Hardcore Jollies, and some of the guitar stuff that followed, you'd be well advised to pick up the CD, as well. He can play. Again, I suggest listening to the CD first.

5.0 out of 5 stars funk on my son, August 14, 2001

michael hampton is a legend, trained from the maggot brain school of funk, and it shows here-mike has been around since 1974 playing with p-funk-check out hardcore jollies, one nation under a groove cd and knee deep, and you'll learn mike ain't no joke.mr. hampton is underrated which is a shame. buty the whole cd is funk acid rock at it's best. mike just blazes the guitar in solo after solo, his mentor george clinton even stops by and puts his 2 cents in.this is how p-funk should have sounded all along but was never given the chance, so if any funkateers like mike on hardcore joolies, knee deep, lunchmeataphobia, funk get ready to roll, ewho says a funk band can't play rock. this is definetly for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars mike rips it on all tracks, October 17, 2010
This review is from: Heavy Metal Funkasson (Audio CD)
I used toplay the hell out of this cd, michael hampton could do better and this cd was way overdue he's been playing in funkadelic since 1974, eddie hazel approved of this guy to take his place while he did 9 months in prison for assault and battery and pocession of angeldust on a flight, anyway mike rips it if you like guitar instrumentals or dig hendrix, and eddie you'll like this too the weakest track is come back sly, george clinmton is on unsung love song with some weird lyrics but that's george what else can you expect best track is girls of the world featuring lige curry I wish funkadelic would play that tune live the joint really rocks out mike is way overdue best known for maggot brain but nothing else p funk guitar army is the best.
