Editorial Reviews

Take two of the most respected and visceral MCs in the independent hip hop scene and put them together for one full album worth of brutal hip hop, and what you've got is both an easy candidate for some kind of album of the year award and an exercise in the fundamental passion that is unique to hip hop. That is exactly the kind of thinking that led to the historic teaming of Vinnie Paz and iLL Bill for their highly anticipated endeavor: Heavy Metal Kings.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE DAY OF RECKONING!!! April 5, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
A LOT OF TIMES WHEN DREAM TEAM PAIRINGS OF MC'S HOOK UP FOR AN ALBUM IT'S BETTER ON PAPER THAN THE ACTUAL OUTCOME. LET ME SAY THAT THIS ALBUM IS BETTER IN OUTCOME THAN ON PAPER. HEAVY METAL KINGS IS AN APOCOLYPTIC HELL STORM FROM BEGINING TO END. ILL BILL AND VINNIE PAZ MURDERED THIS ALBUM! BE CAREFUL KIDS AND LISTEN WITH EAZE...ALBUM MAY MAKE YOU HURT SOMEONE. VERY DANGEROUS!!!

Ill Bill...and Vinnie Paz.... Five stars...?

Bill and Paz are always on point, and now, from the depths of some sort of fiery hell, they give us "Heavy Metal Kings."

Am I biased though? (Well...yes...but this album is HOT.)

Believe me: it's one hot track after another. EVERY track is hardcore, dirty, and "underground" -- but really, what else would you expect from these two street spitters?

And what's not to like? Bill and Paz bring us more of the same: conspiracy-theories and Islamic ---- (respectfully). And they "happily" spit over some of the nastiest, heaviest production I've heard on any of their albums. (Check out Kill Devil Hills and Season of the Assassin.)

Again, every track is hot. (The producers even sampled GZA's Liquid Swords.) "Impaled Nazarene," "The Vice of Killing," and "Devil's Rebels" are all standouts. "The Final Call" leaves you wanting more (so hit your repeat button)! My least favorite track is probably "Leviathan (The Spell Of Kingu)" (but don't let that stop you from hitting the "add to cart" button.)

Despite the "Heavy Metal Kings" title, this album doesn't really have a "heavy metal" sound or even a "rapcore" or "rap-rock" sound -- but that's okay! It still sounds great! (Your mom's not gonna like it though.)

This album will not be forgotten. Bill and Paz prove they're talented and relevant. Don't let the lame cover dissuade you from buying this album.

Heavy metal kings!

Peace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Album April 5, 2011
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I always wanted Bill/Vinnie to collorbabte and make an LP and they didn't dissapoint on this one. After one playthrough I knew I got my moneys worth as every song has a dope beat along with dope lyrics. I'm not gonna lie for the longest time I thought Paz was just saying the same thing over and over but some of his greatest lines throughout his career are on this album the same could be said about Ill Bill. If you like good undersground or even music in general this is worth checking out.

4.0 out of 5 stars heavy metal kings September 3, 2011

This album is good begining to end. But the reason for the one verse each is because this album is an album introducing ill bill and vinnie paz as a group. They have another album in the works.

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible April 6, 2011
Format:Audio CD
This one is a banger from start to finish. I didn't hear any r+b hooks....or any soft jazzy beats. this one is a murder massacre and both mc's kill it. I haven't heard a more consistent album since snowgoons black snow, or doap nixon sour diesel. this one is going down as an instant classic, i bought a second copy just in case something happened to the first. I really can't say much more than give the artist their dues for this one, they earned it. Its evident the time and work they both put into this one, the production, the beats, the rhymes, second to none.
