5.0 out of 5 stars MUST HAVE!!! January 19, 2014
Verified Purchase
I give this game 5 stars because it's so much different than the others games today. I really wish more games were like this. I will not give any spoilers, but this game had me on edge almost through the entire game. Every decision you make will have a huge impact on just how this great game can turn out. If you're a fan of anticipation games, suspense, slight horror, action, pretty much every type of genre, then this game here is the game for you. This was an experience that I have not forgotten, and do to the decision making in this game, you can play it more than once and just go about doing it a different way around this time. I've officially played this games story twice and looking foward to playing it a couple of more times to see what happens if a make even the smallest decision differently. To end this review, basically thus game is by far one of my favorite games of all time, on any and all systems I've played...and I've played many. ;) GET THIS GAME, YOU'LL LOVE IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars I bought a PS3 just to play Heavy Rain July 18, 2012
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
First of all, I'm not a big gamer. But someone had, a long time ago, recommended I play Indigo Prophecy, which I loved very much, it's a very enjoyable game. A few years later I had found out about Heavy Rain. I was really excited to hear that Quantic Dream came out with yet another game. I saved up some money and traded in my Nintendo Wii just so I could buy a PS3. At the same time I purchased a PS3, I also got Heavy Rain. I was like a little kid playing this game, excited, in suspense. I love it.

I was highly impressed on the graphics and story line. It's definitely improved since Indigo. I love how they put the extra effort into making the story lines so different, you really have multiple endings, much more than the previous game. I love that the chapters are set up for you. You can go back, redo a chapter, or just go back to play it differently to see a new out come. I have played it once, I am playing it again so I can see the difference.

My favorite character in this game is Norman Jayden. He's the best since he does have the cool ARI glasses.

Overall, enjoyable and will leave you wanting to go back and play it again. It is aimed for a mature audience so beware for some brutality.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVING IT SO FAR February 4, 2014
Verified Purchase
After playing the demo, I thought this was a game I would like. But boy was I wrong...I LOVE it. I'm fairly new to gaming but because I'm finding this and others which are similar, I am encouraged to continue on. I always thought that you had to enjoy zombies and first person shooter games if you want to play but one more time I was wrong. Yes it's true that finding games like this one can be challenging but it's soooo worth it. I also bought Episode 1, The Taxidermist. More please.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Game April 23, 2013

I liked this game a lot. The story that it tells is one of the best that I have seen in recent years. However, be warned. This game IS one huge quick time event. There is almost no game play to speak of. Also, the game seems to be lacking in re-playability. Other than these two minor points, it is a good game.

Would be great if I could actually play the original version I bought for $60 when it first came out. (You were supposed to have been able to play it without the Move, just using the dualshock controller.) Now, they make you buy the Move for any version, even the old one, otherwise the game won't work. Since the Move isn't exactly a great invention, it doesn't work well either. I contacted PlayStation and reset my PS3 several times. It's not the console because all the other games work with no problems. I even e-mailed the developer in France. No response. No refund. Nothing. Don't waste your money on a game that doesn't work.

This game is fantastic. Every time I play it, it's slightly different, and it's like a movie. The story is intense and gripping, and anyone can get into it and immerse themselves with the story. Overall, amazing game that anyone can enjoy. Would definitely recommend.

I have particularly mixed feelings about Heavy Rain. I was initially intrigued by reviews detailing how much control the player has over decisions and game/story progression for a total of around 17 possible endings. I also liked the idea of playing through the story of a serial killer investigation from the perspective of four different characters. I’m not a huge fan of first-person shooters (the majority of games available these days), so I was also excited to try this game due to its unique presentation—crime/mystery/thriller. I very much enjoyed how detailed the game experience was—as an example, the prologue consists of your character being able to freely move about the house, chat with his wife, watch TV, play music, go out back and play with his kids, etc. The progression of the story does require you to perform key events in a loose time limit, but generally you can spend as little or as much time as you want. The graphics were very good—especially incredible in scenes involving one character, an FBI profiler, who uses very cool high tech (bordering on sci-fi) virtual reality glasses to map crime scenes and evidence, catalog findings/victims/suspects. Gameplay was good, with your difficulty setting being based on how well you know the PS3 controller. This does mean that the game is very heavily based in elaborate quick-time events which can be cumbersome—I recommend using the easiest setting at first to accustom yourself to the style. Just as the story was getting good, however, the game became very glitch to point where I could not progress. The disc was pristine and the console brand new, but I found a number of other reviews bemoaning the same flaw. I plan on watching video walkthroughs to get the rest of the story, but I would have really like play through it myself. Read more ›
