RE-SELL: We thought we'd put this bad boy back on the phones after it received SINGLE OF THE WEEK on DROWNED IN SOUND. Check it here: http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4137678-this-weeks-singles--24-08-2009 Having already established a dominant position within the current cassette market, Tape Club Records thinks it's time take on another format. A special run of split 7" singles mark Tape Club's entry to the world of vinyl, showcasing two of their most delightful acts. Dogtanion is the musical guise of Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau. Matthew is an artist, writer and musician and currently works and lives in London. As Dogtanion, Matthew writes and records songs which elegantly combine his creative talents - his lyrics are poetic, honest and sharp-witted, his performance engaging and confident. Heavy Talk is an upbeat dose of charming cynicism and Matthew's extraordinary abilties are clearly evident. This track has the potential to become an underground winner, and will no-doubt please his fans at BBC Radio One and 6Music. Mr James Bright lives just outside Winchester, and by day is a professional illustrator. When he isn't doodling, he writes songs. Good songs. In fact, for the last 18 months, James has been writing good songs and recording in studios all over the place putting together his debut album (due October 2009). Shut Up Shop features on the album, and shows just what James is all about. His style transends a mutlitude of genres, from soul to folk and back again, and his performance on this track is no exception. Produced by Gillan McGlaughlin, this track is rythmically infectious with spatterings of hiphop, acoustica and dub cleverly woven in.
