4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Big Canvas Bag
I bought this bag to hold my equipment, notebooks, thermos and other gear while clomping through an oil refinery. After a week of use, I think it will serve well. 3.0 out of 5 stars Nice bag
The bag itself is fine. Used it now for a couple of weeks and it is already showing signs of wear - so I am not too happy about that. Additionaly the velcro strap for closing the flap is less then ideal.

I bought this bag to hold my equipment, notebooks, thermos and other gear while clomping through an oil refinery. After a week of use, I think it will serve well. This is not your choice in bags if you want something to contain your laptop; they're making them too thin for the support offered by this bag.

Positives:

* Long, adjustable strap;

* Pockets are pretty deep, except side (see negatives);

* Big, deep bag; and

* Zipper pocket inside bag, small but useful for pens and such.

Negatives:

* Canvas strap should be thicker with two stiches on either side, running the length, to avoid braying;

* Flap: velcro bar runs horizontally but there are only two small bars on the opposite side (the bag) --- these are not strong; and

* Side pockets --- too narrow but buttons are nice.

I plan to replace the velcro flap with a button clapse if the strap holds up for a month of abuse.

After 5 months of service I washed the bag in cold water. It faded a little as expected but did not shrink. Some were was noted in the bottom where a small hole developed. The bag is still useful. I did not add a button because there was no time.

If this review was helpful, please add your vote. I do this on side for free as a public service --thanks for your support.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Bag, February 8, 2007

I love messanger bags an have owned my share throughout my life, and this one is well worth the money. It seems durable (although I have only had it for a little over a month, so we shall see how it holds up in the long term) fits my laptop and a few books nicely, and has a very nice inner pocket with a zipper that makes me feel secure about putting my flash drives into it. So far I only have two minor cpmplaints about it: first, the shoulder strap dosen't seem to hold its position, and I have to shorten it back to the length I like every couple days. Second, the velcro that secures the flap isn't very strong, and never seems to actually velcro. Neither of these complaints are big deals, so for the money this is a good bag.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Jack Bauer Bag!!, December 19, 2008
I bought this bag since I needed it for various items, not fighting terrorists, but it is very handy. It is roomy, but there must be different models of this bag, since the one I received didn't have an interior divider. There are two end pouches that can hold water botttles, then two large pockets on the front of the bag. The flap that closes it needs more velcro though. The shoulder strap is comfortable. It might loosen though if you have heavy items. The bag looks great,made in India. The delivery was very quick too.Overall, I am very happy with this bag. Now if only I could find some ammo, night vision goggles,rappelling gear, grenades and a high tech PDA to put in it.

"Chloe, download it to my PDA!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Very basic, very effective, March 1, 2008

This is just what I was looking for. Very basic bag with no endless inner pockets to confuse the issue. I like that I can use it for my normal notebook, jacket, ipod sort of gear, but also use it when shopping to lug my purchases. The only improvement I can think of is to have a small handle on top of it; with only the one strap that goes over your shoulder, it can be awkward to remove and put down since there's really no other place to grip it.

My son uses this bag as his back pack for school. It's great because it's sturdy and very roomy. He's rough on his things and I think this bag will hold up to that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, decent for the price, September 13, 2007

My only complaint is about the way the strap connects to the bag -- maybe metal clips/hook things so you can remove it? The strap always gets scrunched up in the connectors as they are, especially if you are carrying something heavier (a laptop for instance -- not even that heavy). Otherwise I like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Constructed very well. Perfect for everyday use., December 22, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I already have a laptop bag for my Acer 11.6" Netbook, but I was looking for something a little more informal to throw over my shoulder for everyday use, that didn't stand out and scream to everyone, "Hey, I have a laptop in this bag!"

This bag is just about perfect. First of all the color is a very dark Olive drab... darker than it appears in the photo, which is great.

Very well made, thick canvas like - 100% cotton, wide shoulder strap, very strong and study buckle, heavy duty stitching, and snaps on the side pockets. Almost military grade construction.

Fits my netbook (with neoprene sleeve) in the main compartment with room to spare for folders, magazines, or couple of paperbacks, but not so much that it's oversized for my needs.

2 Front pockets are big enough for your cords, or other devices, sunglasses, iPod or any other hand held devices or peripherals (I have a 7" hand held personal DTV that fits nicely in them), just use common sense and make sure that you put them in hard cases if you are going to be tossing it around or leaning against stuff...and 2 side pockets on each end for water bottles, cords, etc, secured with study snaps.

There's even a small zippered compartment inside the main compartment that would easily hold a few flash drives, business cards, etc.

The big flap closes with Velcro..would have preferred snaps, but not enough to take any points off..especially for the price.

NOTE: There is no padding or protection for your personal electronics..it's a canvas bag... so again, if that is what you want to use it for..use some common sense and make sure you have adequate protection or cases for your individual items.

You could definitely use this to carry a couple pair of jeans, 2 or 3 shirts and personal hygiene items for a short trip.

Overall this is a great little bag. I didn't expect such quality for how little I paid.

Highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome durable bag, August 1, 2009
I have had this bag for a little over four years now. It held up to fairly rough use very very well. After Year 3 it got one tiny hole in the back, but I still used it every day to haul books, laptop, etc. to all of my classes. Now the holes have grown and multiplied, and the olive drab has faded into a yellow-green, but I still love the bag and use it daily. No holes formed in the bottom or in any of the pockets so there is no risk of losing things through the holes, and I am going to keep using this bag until it literally disintegrates. Then I will buy a brand new one!

The only complaint I have is that the shoulder strap doesn't stay at the length that I want, so I have to shorten it every couple of days.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great bag, but not for me, February 21, 2008

This review is from: Heavy Weight Messenger Bag (Apparel)
First, I want to say that my bag got here a week earlier than estimated. Only took four business days! Now about the bag itself: it's good. It's well made, durable, attractive, and it does its job well. It holds quite a bit without looking ridiculous. The strap is wide enough to be comfortable even when the bag is full. Still, there are some issues that I might need to resolve with a sewing kit. There is only one pocket with a zipper. I generally carry around a lot of odds and ends. And I tend to throw my bag around. If it ends up upside-down small things like change can fall out. This isn't a HUGE deal, but it annoys me. The main compartment is really big, but personally I would have preferred it to have been split in two. Maybe have one of them zip closed. But again, this isn't a flaw of the bag, it's just my preference. I see other reviewers complaining that the strap is too short. They must be crazy or don't know how to adjust it. The one I got was a little over four feet long fully extended. I'm 6' so it hangs around my thighs. One small issue is that the strap isn't removable. So if you want to put another one on, you'll have to cut the original off. But I have no intention of doing that since the strap is awesome. In the end this bag would be perfect for someone, which is why I'm giving it four stars. But the lack of compartments and zippers prevents it from being the perfect bag for me.
