3.0 out of 5 stars good content BAD construction
I just received my new BIBLE(the Hebrew-Greek Key Study Bible). I got it in black genuine leather. First let me say I have tremendous admiration and respect for Spiros Zodhiates, the Bible had excellent content. However there was a major problem with construction. The binding was coming away from the pages, there were pages loose, and the printing was less than I had...

I prefer the NASB translation due to the accuracy of its translation and was very pleased to find it available in this study Bible. The Greek & Hebrew Strong's numbers inserted in the text plus the complete Strong's Concise Dictionary and additional Greek and Hebrew helps are wonderful. The editor's notes at the bottom of some pages are also informative. I recommend this Bible to any serious student of the Bible who would like a decent measure of Greek and Hebrew help in a single portable Bible. To keep the Bible from getting overly large (it's quite a reasonable size now) it doesn't index as many words as I would have liked, but it is enough to be useful when I am away from home and my more extensive study tools. The one thing I would have definitely preferred (even at the cost of increased size) is larger type. It is set in a very crisp, 10 point (I would guess), serifed, typeface which is readable but still small for my over-40 eyes even with my reading glasses.

4.0 out of 5 stars NASB Key Word Study Bible, April 3, 2000
By
Let me begin this review by stating that I'm reviewing the NASB version of this study bible. I have also used an older version of this bible in the KJV, but my comments will be directed to the NASB edition. I recently acquired one of these bibles and it has truly been useful to me in my studies. You must realize that although our translations are good (the NASB being an excellent example) they are only efforts at translation. THEY ARE NOT PERFECT! The only way to truly read the unflawed word of God is to read it in the original language. Unless you're a scholar this might be impossible. This bible makes that a reality! Did you know that there are four different greek words that are translated "love" in the New Testament? If you didn't know that you might apply the same meaning to "love" everywhere it occurs. This does not allow you to reach the truest meaning of some passages. This bible allows you to know what the original language said, so that you can compare alternate translations with what is actually written. It also gives insight to the different clauses used in greek and how they compare to english clauses. It has very extensive cross references and complete Hebrew and Greek dictionaries (both tied to Strong's numbering system) in the back. Additionally, it has a complete set of lexical aids tied to many of the Strong numbers, and the complete NASB concordance. In short, this is a study bible for the serious student who wishes to unlock the meaning of scriptures by way of the original language. If you're looking for more general study with application notes, then you would probably be happier with the NASB study bible (see my review) or a Life Application Bible. Supplementary, it doesn't include the 1995 update to the NASB text. I really enjoy mine, but I don't used it exclusively for my study.

5.0 out of 5 stars Get the NASB version--wish I would have, March 11, 1999
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I agree--this is a great tool. I think the NASB translation, being the most literal, lends itself most aptly to this sort of thing. I love the NIV, but when you're doing Greek-Hebrew studies, it's better to have a literal translation.

This is still a must-have Bible, unless you know Hebrew and Greek and can read it without help. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great study Bible!, May 12, 2000
By
wdicks (Columbus, Ohio) - See all my reviews
When I say "Great study Bible!", I mean "study!" It has some study notes, but that is not what this Bible is about. This Bible makes it easier than ever to study the meaning of the original languages behind the translation. As the NASB is probably the most accurate translation available, now you have tools to dig even deeper. Almost every word in this Bible has its corresponding Strong's number next to it, and the Strong's information can be found in the back. You can also find Spiros Zidhiates' Hebrew and Greek definitions in the back by using the same Strong's numbers. If you are serious about Bible study, and not just to read other people's notes on passages, then this is the Bible you want.

5.0 out of 5 stars Complete Bible, January 4, 2001
By
"garmon5" (Lake Jackson, TX United States) - See all my reviews
I enjoy this Bible the most of any I have owned or studied. It is a great tool during church and sunday school and bible studies because it is all compact into one book and the references to the lexical aids and concordance in back have provided insight many times already during group settings. I appreciate that there isn't a lot of commentary to get in the way just helpful keynotes and the lexcial/concordance reference numbers. Once you look at the front page on how to use the Bible it is simple to look words up and understand for someone that may not have a background in Greek or Hebrew.

This Bible gives the original Hebrew and Greek texts with definitions and pronunciations that every lay person can understand. As a pastor and radio Bible teacher, I use this Bible more than all other helps.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Bible I have ever owned., July 30, 2000
I have an older version of this bible (1988) and the cross-reference to the lexicon and dictionary in the back is a constant help in revealing Gods word to me. I find my self totally engaged with the word and hours pass before I look up and realize that I have been busy for some time. I also tend to keep going with a verse, and study further in church while the Pastor keeps moving on to others. I also recommend the other books by the editor, as He has a great way of explaining things that my youth group can grasp, yet is deep and meaningful to me. you will not be sorry- Gods word will not return void, and this edition is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Make sure you read all the past reviews, March 21, 2000
By A Customer
Make sure you go to the bottom and click "read all xx customer reviews." This is a very nice Bible. It works as the reader below explained. I thought that all the clutter would get in the way of reading, but I soon got used to it. I can read it now as easily as any other Bible, and I know a couple simple things about verb tenses and the words without looking them up. Fairly soon I think you'll find that you'll read verbs with "ppt," which means a continuous or repetitive action, differently than other verbs which simply state one time of action. This is very helpful to see what those words mean, as it's difficult to convey the meaning of some verb tenses in English. Dr. Zodhiate's commentary is helpful, and very conservative. As far as the physical book, I got the leather-bound NASB edition. The only thing I don't like about it is that the pages are paper-thin. There is also very little room in the margins for notes, for people who need that kind of thing. However, this allows the bible to be quite neatly sized.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Bible available today., February 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Hebrew Greek Key Word Study Bible-KJV (Bonded Leather)
Of all of the Bibles I've ever seen or owned, this one is the best. Not only does it use the Authorized Version, but it also contains Strong's complete Hebrew and Greek dictionaries, a fantastic lexical aid for almost every word in the dictionaries, more cross references than you can imagine, and other stuff. His commentary sprinkled throughout is informative, and thought provoking, and leans heavily on the Reformed side. If I could only have 1 book with me and I wanted a Bible, commentary, Strong's dictionary of Hebrew and Greek, and a huge list of cross references, this is the only study Bible that comes close.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Bible will enrich and strengthen your walk with God!, June 28, 1999
By
syers@snip.net (South Jersey, USA) - See all my reviews
Ever since I received this Bible as a gift 8 yrs. ago, it has been the only Bible that I have used... in my studies, meditation, and preaching. The Greek & Hebrew Strong's numbers inserted in the text throughout, plus the complete Strong's Concise Dictionary and additional Greek and Hebrew/Chaldee helps, my understanding has grown immensely under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. I recommend this Bible to any serious child of God who would like a decent measure of Greek and Hebrew help in a single-source Bible. The commentaries are useful and it is by far a tremendous resource to aid in your walk with the Lord. As mine is near worn out I plan on purchasing another very soon...in King James only!
