For Kali devotees.,

This book , is about Hecate and it has invocations in Latin, but as a kali devotee, it has really drawn me deeper towards Mother Goddess. This book is not so much for people who are just interested in literal side of spirituality - there is no philosophy in it nor it is a lame translation from the vedas, as so many other books are. IT HAS DRY FACTS IN IT- accept it or not.Mainly for those who are ardent devotees of The Mother ( Divine Mama in my language) and need to hear someone speak who has followed that path. Kali Path is not easy and it is difficult to accept the pain of the heart and fear of death that comes with it- so the purpose of this book, to me, wasn't to tell me how to experience divine bliss- but rather how to deal with what stands in the way. I have been following heart based meditation for years and it was surprising to me that how little acceptance people have for the pain and fear that their own heart holds- including people doing the same kind of meditation- and how that pain, does not allow them to experience the peace their own soul craves for. We need a little bit more work in this area, and Jade's book forms a foundation. It is definitely one or more steps ahead of the level of spirituality that people are used to, esp in the west. Some of the topics that I really liked were Story of Hecate Chthonia, The wheel of hecate- that refers to shadows around the heart, Death- The next great experience, and the three phases of dying. It is interesting how most modern spiritual "gurus" try to lay the path in front of people and cant even tell what comes with that path. Thats like disregarding all the work that each one of us has done in all our lifetimes and that Life is the greatest guru. I feel that we need to look at our own work, our own experiences in order to arrive- thats where, Jade's work comes in handy. Invocations can be challenging ( esp for those who follow different language, like for me, it is sanskrit) and it might be good to have a reference regarding the source of those.

Wow! What an amazing find this book has been for me. When I first read it, my ego clouded my judgment. I was so wrapped up in the idea of "me" that I couldn't see it for the absolutely amazing blessing it really was/is. This book introduced new ideas to me about an ancient and wonderful goddess whom I call "mother." Jade's writing style is so welcoming that it's hard to put the book down! With hard facts and personal insight which I feel is Divinely inspired, Jade has produced a book that will bring so many answers that it will make you ask yourself more questions. Thanks to Jade Sol Luna, I have a completely new love and understanding of the incredible Goddess that I call "Mother." Thank you Jade, for all that you do!

Jade Luna has a very unique way of looking at this complex Goddess. I love the fact that he views this Goddess as God and discusses her light and dark aspects. I would not buy this book if you are new to Spirituality because his work is on the advanced side but for the adept mystic, this book is a gem!

Coming Full in the Real truth,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Hecate: Death, Transition and Spiritual Mastery (Second Edition) (Paperback)
In the beginning of time there was truth.Over the centuries man has changed it.Add fear and confusion to all of us.Starting even at the young age of our birth. Now we are getting back to the real truth about God and Hecate and this universe. Like a onion we have to peel the lies and the misleading we have been taught and groomed and preeched. And while we are doing this you soul just knows deep inside the truth. And so there for you are lead to it. For Jade to have the courage and the strength and the guts to pull us back into truth is so amazing. And to stir up the world and to know that you know the truth and understanding just makes me want to back Jade up 100000% I was born in an Irish Italian old fashion cathloic school and church. Mass was said in Latin And to walk away from that world into the truth was not easy but I am so thankful and very appreciative of Jades teachings,CD'S and books. I am so I am because of Jade and the truth and for having Hecate as My Mother of all. xo

This will be the third time I've read this particular book. As always, Jade never ceases to amaze me. If you have any interest in what astrology is really about, I would recommend Jade's series. This one does a fine job on the Mother Goddess, herself.

Jade has done it again and though I did not think it was possible - he topped his last book with this one. The depth of his understanding about the Goddess and how her presence in our life can assist us in our own spiritual journey is clear, compelling and practical. Clearly years of practice and research has paid off. If you are following her path or are curious about it - this book is a must read!

Thank the Goddess for jade Sol Luna,
By William F Keck (Costa Mesa, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Hecate: Death, Transition and Spiritual Mastery (Second Edition) (Paperback)
I have been following Jade Sol Luna from the beginning and needless to say, that is not very long. JSL may be one of the first living beings to take a POWERFUL, AGHORIC (dark) Hindu path and transform it into a western path (he says over and over in his seminars (The Classical Witch and the Aghori of India are the same thing). Jade took 34 trips to India, living with various masters and merged his long devotion to the Goddess Kali into the Greek Goddess Hecate. As Jade Sol Luna himself said at a seminar in Tucson AZ, "I was surprised that I actually found my spiritual home inside Hecate but I did. She was the force that was in my life since birth." Well his transformation is very much apart of this book.I bought this book when it was a pamphlet, a meekly 120 pages. Most of the negative comments found on this amazon page come from this 120 page book. It went into second print and evolved into the master piece it is today (260 pages). Jade Sol Luna does not white wash this goddess and to some, this book could be intimidating. JSL says that Hecate creates the struggles in our life so we can master who we are. Without Hecate and Suffering, realization is not possible! If you want a successful easy life, tackle your fear. As Jade says repeatedly, your mind can not manifest but your fears can! Tackle your fear consciously and life is more enjoyable. My personal favorite chapters are The Natural Darkness and the Black Bliss. I find JSL to be revolutionary is his points of view and as dark as some of this may be, he is right and his goal is light. I only recommend this book to those that want to really know Hecate. Not those that want the same old boring information of past books. Jade is for those looking for a bigger, more expansive version of this Goddess!

East Meets West - With Hecate Frosting,
By
This review is from: Hecate: Death, Transition And Spiritual Mastery (Paperback)
If you're looking for contemporary material on historic Hecate worship or any sort of how-to instruction, this is not the book for you. The author's bio refers to him as a full-time astrologer and Brahmin priest who "shifted all his energy into the Greek Goddess Hecate". This book is an eclectic philosophical mish-mash of East fused with West - of Kali worship concepts, Hindu and Buddhist philosophy, the author's personal system of astrology, a smattering of the Chaldean Oracles and Greek Magical Papyri, all with a coating of Hecate "frosting" and a dash of Dark Paganism for good measure. The actual genuine and only sourced historic and trustworthy material on Hecate is found at the very end of the book in approximately 12 pages lifted word for word from the Theoi Project online - in these hard economic times, why should anyone pay $15.99 for information they can access for FREE online? The rest is just "soft polytheism" (all Dark Goddesses are One Dark Goddess) and reductionist Wicca that essentially says Kali and Hecate are the same Dark Goddess. The author then applies and retranslates titles/images of Kali to Hecate and then shrouds it all in Latin - even retranslating familiar Tantric, Hindu and Vedic concepts into Latin - for example saying that Maya (illusion) is Maia - one of the Greek Pleiades and later a Goddess of Spring. Sorry but sounding alike doesn't make it the same - ask any etymologist. Ancient Roman Wiccans? Although an intriguing idea, the "Viccanus" material beginning on page 51 is highly speculative. The author says that the word Wicca comes from the Latin Viccanus (sic) -actually it's vicanus - one "c" - technically meaning villager - a synonym for a pagan or rustic living outside the Pomerium of Rome. It even states the ancient Viccanus (i.e. ancient Wiccans) practiced a skull meditation first taught by Buddha that spread through Europe - an interesting concept without a doubt - but sources please. An inexcusable error appears on the back cover - it says "Second addition" - instead of Second Edition. Such typographical errors are avoided with a careful proofreader - even with a self-published book such as this. It's hard to take it seriously. It boggles the mind what you can sell people these days. If you are a Hellenic or Roman Reconstructionist, or anyone (Witch or otherwise) who encountered Hecate through Classical scholarly sources, this is definitely NOT the book for you. If you enjoy reading one person's eclectic speculative mystic vision growing out of Unverified Personal Gnosis (UPG) and groove on having California gurus who have a soul-patch and wear lots of fabulous bling - then knock yourselves out. |
