Second Update, Dec. 18, 2012: The replacement still works perfectly. Am very happy with it.

First Update, June 5, 2011: Unfortunately, after having and using the remote for 10 months, it stopped functioning properly. There is a spring-loaded contact pin on its circut board that gets pushed in when the remote button is pressed. It is supposed to spring back out of its housing when the remote button is released. However, the button on mine got stuck inside the housing and wouldn't release. Searching the net, the manufacturer apparently has a 2-year warranty on it, but the seller of mine, CommunityControls, has a 1-year warranty. Since mine became defective after having it just less than a year, I contacted the seller, and they were fantastic about getting a new one out to me and setting up the return for the defective one. The new one, so far, works beautifully. I will update again should I experience any further problems.

Original review sometime in 2010: I have a 1988ish Overhead Door model 45A, 360MHz, garage door opener. I bought a new "Crusader" remote for it from Overhead Door Co. several years ago, and it was junk, i.e., the range was ridiculously low, the push-button broke and had to be glued, the screw that holds it together stripped so I had to tape it together, and eventually the push-button quit working properly again. I then went to Home Depot and bought a universal Chamberlin which wasn't compatible with my "old" 360mhz system. I then went online and found this Heddolf on Amazon. After setting the DIP switches, it worked perfectly. I've had it for almost a year now, and it has never failed. It is SO much better than the "crusader" which was a complete waste. The whole unit, including the push-button, is very solid. Also, its range is about 10 times greater than the Crusader. It's a great product at a great price, and I highly recommend it. Just do you homework first and make sure it's compatible with your system.

Works with overhead door remote that uses the 9 (3) position selection switches to set correct matching code that is in transmitter located in motor control housing .This particular remote uses the 360 meg hz main freq.Programs very easily by sliding front cover down and setting selection switches to match switch setting on board in motor housing.Works great.

This remote works perfectly with a very old Overhead Door Model 450A garage door opener that was missing the original remote. The opener's operating frequency was shown on its label and I made sure to order the matching 360 MHz remote. After setting the remotes switches to match the switches on the opener everything worked perfectly. The opener has two-position switches and this remote's are three-position; no problem, just ignore the center "0" position on the remote. I used this remote to program my car's Homelink transmitter with no problems. The build quality look very good and it comes with a 9 volt non-alkaline battery. Overall a great solution for an old but functioning opener without a remote.

We bought a "universal" remote that was not compatible w/ our older model garage door opener. Then we contacted the manufacturer and they told us that our garage door opener was discontinued (duh, it's 20+ years old!) and that we couldn't get a remote for it. Pretty much all of the avenues we researched were trying to tell us that we needed to replace our garage door opener...just b/c the remote died! This remote was super easy to program and works great...even better that the ones we had!

They said I could not find a replacement for an older garage door opener but this one works better than the old one! I feels like it is a solid and well made product. Works great!

This works perfectly with my really old garage door opener by Overhead Doors. My old ones were not working so you open these and match up the pins and it works great.

Works well and does what it's supposed to do. Have had two of them for over a year now. No problems whatsoever. Haven't even had to change the batteries yet.
