This album was originally issued as a limited edition by the Swedish cult label total Holocaust. This is now the only version available. Southern Lord version includes bonus material from Xasthur, new and exclusive.

I bought this CD on a whim at a used CD shop and was pleasantly surprised by it. Both Nortt and Xasthur excel at creating atmospheric music that is simultaneously cold and mournful. Imagine a more melancholy Emperor at half-speed and you'll have these "bands," though Nortt is slower and more morose, while Xasthur tends toward comparatively faster tempi and is rather more creepy. If your tastes are anything like mine, this split CD will definitely prompt you to want to further explore the catalogues of both outfits.

Being a huge fan of Xasthur, I knew that I would enjoy this cd and since I have heard good things about Nortt I decided to order it. The two styles of the bands work well on this cd as you have the depressing slow paced doom of Nortt along with the haunting faster paced black metal of Xasthur. Although both groups are one man bands containing heavily distorted guitars and tortured screams, they sound very different from each other. If you are a fan of either Nortt, Xasthur or just doom or black metal in general, be sure to pick up this cd.
