All little Hedgehug wants to do is find someone who he can give his Valentine card to as well as his little heart. Try as hard as he might, no one finds his spikes lovable, cuddly or even huggable. By the end of the day Hedgehug gets his hopes up and heads home to deal with his broken heart, that is until someone surprises him with a Valentine's of his own. I love that Hedgehug gets his happy ending from someone who "likes his spikes." This is a cute Valentine's day read that's the just the perfect length to read at home or in preschool / kindergarten settings.

Hedgehug tells the story of a hedgehog very excited about the promise of Valentine's Day. Certain he will find love, he emerges from his burrow expectantly and enthusiastically ... perhaps a little too enthusiastically. Hedgehug looks for love in all the wrong places. Just when all seems lost and the hedghug completely defeated in his Valentine's quest, the unexpected happens.

HEDGEHUG is a delightful Valentines book for children and as well as for parents to read aloud to their children. The story is both sad and happy, with a delightful happy ending twist. With words and wonderful artwork, the reader easily relates or gains sympathy for the hedgehug. HEDGEHUG is a wonderful tale about the unexpected, magical twist of love.

For those adult readers like myself who love children's books, HEDGEHUG is a must for the Valentine's Day collection... or any day really because it captures so well human experience. While there is a wonderful happy ending, HEDGEHUG also captures some of the heartache of love. HEDGEHUG would make a wonderful gift for any adult who has experienced a disappointment in romance. HEDGEHUG is cute and endearing without being sappy. Delightful!

As you might imagine from the title, Hedgehug: A Sharp Lesson in Love is a story about an animal with pesky spikes that get in the way of everything. Hedgehug is a little guy who just wants what all of us want - to find true love. So he makes a special card and sets out on Valentine's Day to find a special someone who may just return his Valentine wishes. It's just that his hugs cause his would-be-Valentines too much pain. Just when he thinks there is no hope in finding true love, something really special happens. This adorable story was created and illustrated by Dan Pinto and was written by Benn Sutton. The pictures are colorful and darling, just like the story.
