This is one of my favorite viking metal albums. Even though all the songs are demos they are still killer. Any fan of viking metal will love this album. Also fans of melodic metal will enjoy this album also. Dont wait buy this album. Also check out Urkraft which is much better.

This CD is the pairing of Thyrfing's 2 demos. Tracks 1-6 are "Hednaland" demo and tracks 7-10 are "Solen Svarnar" demo. For demos, the sound and musicianship on this release is spectacular. If I didn't know better, I would think that this was Thyrfing's first album. The music is rather like (early) Dimmu Borgir with a veil of keyboards over relaxed guitar and drum melodies. This release also clocks in at 27:52, so it is more of an mCD than a full-length album. Only two of the songs on the demos here were featured on any previous album ("Hednaland" and "Vargavinter" are the songs), so there is much unreleased (on CD) material here. The best songs are "Solen Svartnar" Parts 1 & 2 as they show great Viking folk-influenced melodies and a very majestic feeling. This album is limited to 2000 copies so if you are going to buy it, buy it NOW. This is essential for any fan of melodic viking/black metal.
