5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect guide for 3 trips now
Just got back from my Cabo trip, the third vacation city I've visited since buying this book. It's uncanny how correct the details have been, I mean down to the T. On this trip it helped choose the golf course, the hotel, even the best boat to charter for the blue marlin fishing. 3.0 out of 5 stars Curious, if partially useful
The problem with this book is not that it is inaccurate: based on my personal experience in Amsterdam, Mexico, and other places not listed here, it seems to provide a good assessment of the girl-for-rent business in the places surveyed. My gripes revolve around a number of other issues.

First, let me begin on a positive note by praising the introductory...

Just got back from my Cabo trip, the third vacation city I've visited since buying this book. It's uncanny how correct the details have been, I mean down to the T. On this trip it helped choose the golf course, the hotel, even the best boat to charter for the blue marlin fishing. We caught a 400 lb monster that fought like a demon; even the topless local girls we brought on board for the trip were impressed. I'd like to think they caught a monster too, but you know. Later that night, for appetizers and mindless entertainment we went to the pool hall/brothel mentioned in the book. There's no way you would have ever find it without reading about it. It was us 4 guys, and 40 girls who took up all the bar stools. They seemed real friendly here. Anyway, I'd highly recommend you buy a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great guide, December 25, 2005

Having been burned by the vagueness of a number of Lonely Planet travel books, I was looking for something more specifically tailored to male vacations. This guide has been a great find. It has proven to be invaluable, saving me a lot of headaches and money. It really cuts to the chase on describing exactly how, what, and where a guy can discover adventure on his terms in each city. It's heavy on details, and offers not just the hedonistic activities to dabble in, but also the legalities of travel there; customs, currency tidbits, and the scams and bad spots to avoid. The author is obviously a well traveled guy, some of these beach towns I've never even heard of. Just reading about them makes you more than curious. Beyond the excellent content, the best thing about this book is the writing style. Almost masquerading as a travel guide, it is one of the funniest collection of chauvinistic pieces of insight and wisdom I've ever read. It's worth buying it just for learning and laughing.

5.0 out of 5 stars The real truth for single travellers, November 25, 2004
This review is from: The Hedonist: World Vacation Guide (Paperback)
This books hits dead on with tips on visiting different countries and enjoying the pleasurable sights it has to offer. I've been in Europe for several years and everything this books has told of approaching women and experiencing different cultures is absolutely correct. I feel as if one of my "running buddies" wrote this book. For anyone who have travelled outside of the U.S. and have experienced some of the things this book tells will find themselves astonished and saying "I've done that!" or "I saw that!". A great book to read for the curious mind who wants to know what else is there out there in different parts of the world, especially if you're tired of the routine rituals of dating or costly entertainment which doesn't gaurantee anything special. I won't go over much details but I will say this..."BUY THIS BOOK!!!!"

5.0 out of 5 stars Caribbean Gone Wild, April 29, 2004
By
Island Guy (Boca Raton, FL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Hedonist: World Vacation Guide (Paperback)
A quick note, since this book really paid for itself for me. A friend and I booked a 3 day fishing marathon in Curacao (Caribbean). I quickly realized we knew nothing about the nightlife and got worried. I scoured through Borders and other bookstores and came up empty handed. On a tip, I picked up this book, and it had all the info we needed for fishing, casinos, hotels, the solution to the disastrous taxi rates, and most important, what to do at night.

We took the advice and headed straight to the state owned brothel at the end of the island. After one sip of the first beer, a sea of amazon latinas tackled us...must have been 50 of them. What a great fishing trip. They were really biting the whole weekend. We hooked so many trophy keepers, it brings tears to my eyes. Back home now, and it's been really cold. Not the weather, the old lady. She just can't understand how I got such deep nail marks on my back catching a marlin. My advice is dump the broad, and buy this book.

This is a conscise, fascinating travel planner, with every detail you need to know about the women, brothels, clubs, and sports activities. Pick up a copy.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sex Bible, June 12, 2004
This review is from: The Hedonist: World Vacation Guide (Paperback)
Before visiting any country on vacation, I always research the hot spots and nightlife to save time, money, and to hit the ground running. A friend showed me this book, and it was exactly what I was looking for, since it's written for single, partying guys. We both chose Costa Rica, with the game plan of a three day golf getaway. We checked into the highly recommended Hotel del Rey, went downstairs to the sports bar and thought we'd died and gone to heaven. 60 exotic girls and maybe 8 guys; it's a brothel disguised as a Hotel Sports bar. Get this, we never left the hotel the entire vacation! Friggin' hilarious trip to say the least. Every single guy needs this book, it is without a doubt the Sex Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book is the Truth, February 17, 2008
This review is from: The Hedonist: World Vacation Guide (Paperback)
I was soo surprised on how accurate this book really was, It was almost like Brett had just left Rio the week before I got there. I just returned from Carnaval 2008 and I had the time of my life! This city is a true male twenty-somethings bachelor's paradise. One of my male friends that travels the world put me on to this book while I was there, and it officially became a checklist. Truly unbelieveable how accurate and precise this book is, and is highly recommended to anyone who wants to be in this "secret society". Just follow the rules to this book, or add them to your current agenda, and you too could have the time of your life in one of these many great cities, just like I did in Rio. I'm buying the book for future destinations, and I've also purchased his other book "The Professional Bachelor", which are now known to me as the The "Red" book, and the "Black" book. Both are must haves and I hope Brett keeps all these goodies coming in the future!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, May 1, 2004
This review is from: The Hedonist: World Vacation Guide (Paperback)
What can I say about this book except it is perfect for single guys. Every travel guide I've seen is written for backpackers or fat tourists with toupees. I'm in my 20's, I ain't dead, and wandering around aimlessly on vacation is not an option. This book gives in-depth details that are right to the point, for locating and exploiting the hot spots for amateur girls and the pros, as well as a buffet of daytime activities. Get it, read it, book your flight. Done!

Well researched, really handy and insightful. There are some excellent tips that will save one an immense amount of time, the author's got a great sense of humor. Sure to offend the Feminists and PC crowd, particularly since it's non-fiction. If it pisses them off, it's gotta be good. I read it straight through and pick it up and reread excerpts all the time. If you're like me, tired of the game playing and want guaranteed results with good looking women, you need this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Travel Resource, January 19, 2006

Sean Fitzpatrick (Pattaya, Thailand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Hedonist: World Vacation Guide (Paperback)
I've lived in the outskirts of Pattaya for 2 years now, and can vouch that this book hits on all the necessary tips and tricks for my city, which is covered in the guide. I've been looking to take a vacation from an Asian paradise to a Latin paradise, for a change of pace. The Hedonist covers 20 different cities, and if you're single, there is no better vacation guide in my view. More accurately, there are no other books in this genre. I love to get around town and experience the culture a bit, love to golf and ocean fish, and ALL the info I need to accomplish this are enclosed in detail for each city. I highly recommend it.

I have to laugh at the jealous feminist comments below. She doesn't know a wit about the topic, and really only fears losing the easy US wallet. Take it from my Thai girlfriend. Her bargirl escort friends consider themselves overwhelming fortunate to have found such an easy career path to "fame and fortune." They used to work for free on the family rice farms, now they live like millionaires. The vast majority are mature adults who willingly continue to work in the sex industry not out of need, but out of greed. They make an equivalent of thousands of dollars a day here. Some of them take limos to work. Underneath though, the girls are sharks who prey on lonely old American men on vacation, who are an easy and willing target. The Thai girls, like their US counterparts, pretend to fall in love in order to get monthly checks (from overseas in this case), all the while laughing at the men behind their backs. The world has it back asswards. It's the sincere, romantic, naive Men who are the victims of the trade.
