I read it not so long ago for my 5th grade homeschool project, and it was one of the best books I have ever read. Johanna Spyri really showed what it meant to her to be faithful to God. Spyri's tale was the most elegant, beautiful, flowing tale I have ever read.

Heidi was so spectacular that I would definately like to rate it hundreds of stars; and I consider reading all of Spyri's books. I think Heidi is the perfect book for people of all ages and if you like books such as "Little House on the Prairie" you will love Heidi.

The setting is somewhere in Switzerland with all the Alps. I think reading this book made me want to go to Switzerland! Like I've said before, this book is very beautiful-- everything about it-- the setting, the story, the way the author writes it, it is pure beauty. I don't think I-- possibly you-- have read any book as good as this.

So, overall, this book is the most best book for anyone who loves life on the alm, faithfulness to God, and a nice beautifully-written tale. This tale made me very amazed and happy at Johanna Spyri's literature, and I guarentee it will to you too. Heidi is the best book in the whole world. Pure Literature and Pure beauty.

I read this book when I was much younger and always thought of it as one of my favorites.

I decided to read it again on my Kindle (it's free) and still enjoyed it very much as an adult.

Beautiful writing and descriptions of the fresh mountain life. It made me want to go find a similar place in this hectic world.

I was thoroughly enjoying this book, when I realized a sentence dropped off and never picked up again. After scrolling back and forth, I realized that it was missing pages. Disappointed.

I bought this book on my kindle and was very disappointed because it appears to be abridged. I compared it to my unabridged bookshelf book of the same novel and the wording is different as well as simpler and less gramatically correct. I doubt although it is possible that I am being needlessly suspicious. In the future, I will buy a different kindle edition of this book.

However, since the book was free I did not lose any money.

I enjoyed this story very much. I loved the lifestyle Heidi and her grandfather cherished and also loved their personalities very much. It made me want to go for a visit myself!

It is a classic - a beautiful story. I really enjoyed reading this version, I think much of the philosophy and wisdom to be gained from Heidi's simple faith is lost at times in other versions. The life lessons from the story are often obscured in an effort to make it more attractive to a wider audience . The only (very slight) negative I have is that while the translation is very good, I think some of the authenticity is lost, when names (eg. the names of the goats) are also translated. All in all, a great read - highly recommended!

A wonderful story of a bitter old man who is enchanted by the innocence and openess of his little grandaughter. Her sincere love brings him the redemption which he has longed for. A true prodigal son returning to the forgiveness and love of his Heavenly Father. "And a little child shall lead them."

This book is totally charming and delightful. It describes and creates another world, simple and composed of goodness. The text flows easily and beautifully, the people (and goats) are interesting and just complex enough to feel you know them. I know it is a children's book but also perfect for any adult that needs to smile.
