A Fine Example of the Genre,
This review is from: The Heights of Rimring (Mass Market Paperback)
"The Heights of Rimring" is an exhilarating read, and one of the finest examples of its genre. The narrative is finely-paced, the plot suspenseful and well-constructed. Stirling, a woodsman and former M16 operative returns one afternoon to discover and accept a mission that is to take him deep into the picturesque Himalayas in a quest to rescue an American General who has undergone a double-defection from the Chinese Military. Needless to say, not only does the General possess invaluable information on the current state of the Chinese Military, but he has also written a codex detailing recent military developments. Upon arriving in Nepal, Stirling is pursued not only by the Chinese Military but the sinister KGB. Into this maelstrom enter the mysterious Khampa Tibetan rebels, whose loyalty is crucial to the outcome of the mission. But the Khampa rebels have an agenda of their own... Duff Hart-Davis has constructed a fine spy thriller, with a pace that never slows. A combination of intrigue, suspense and action, coupled with a finely-paced narrative ensure that The Heights of Rimring is one of the greatest examples of the genre |
