I use this in my vocal isolation booth to hold a variety of condenser and ribbon mics. Holds very securely, I am able to position without any problems. I'm impressed with the quality, highly recommend.

This Heil product is well made and easy to use. I've never had any problems with it. The springs are heavy duty as well as the mount.

I concur with other positive reviewers so for those of you who are on a budget here's a little trick on how to convert this solid mic arm into a superb high quality dolly mic stand: Go to any local hospital and talk to the materials management department and let them know that you are interested in purchasing any old IV poles they might be throwing away. Leave them your number so they can call you whenever they buy new ones--which they periodically do.
When you get one, simply slip off the top sliding pole and insert this arm--minus the desk clamp of course--and walla you got yourself a high quality mic arm on wheels just like those $500 jobbies. In fact, all my mics in my project studio are on such dolly stands. Only reason for the four instead of five stars is that if you use it as a desk arm and tend to move the mic around a lot the clamp tends to loosen up a bit but if you don't mind the occasional re-tightening, it shouldn't be an issue otherwise.

This was easy to install, works well, is well balanced. I enjoy working with it and moving it out of the way when I am not podcasting. Saw Leo Laporte using it and thought i'd give it a try. Glad I did.

I bought this for my "home recording studio" set up using it with a AT2020 USB mic and a Spider Mount shock attachment and it's awesome. Mounted to my desk this has enough weight and stability to keep the mic exactly where I want it while recording and just pushes away when I'm not using it. Terrific product and worth the extra bucks compared to smaller and less bulky models. If you have the money and want a quality product that does the job you need it to - this one is awesome.

I love this thing! Bought it to clear clutter from my desk and it has been easy to use and kind of fun. I use it for webcasts and for taking skype calls and I love pulling the mic over to me when I need it and then pushing it aside. Use it with a Behringer C1 on a shockmount. Mounted easily to my desk. Great price, great product.

Couldn't ask for a better addition to my podcast studio. This item feels rock-solid, move without so much as a creek or click, and just feels like a very well-made piece of quality hardware.

I bought this boom to fasten to my desk and hold a Blue Snowball USB microphone for podcasting. It is very solid and articulates in many positions allowing me to place it in the perfect location freeing my hands for the keyboard and still able to see my computer screen. Be sure to clamp it very securely. The first night I had it, it crashed to the floor because the pad on the clamp slipped off. Fortunately everything, the mic, pop filter and boom, survived the fall. I stuck the pad back on and clamped it more securely and haven't had a problem since.
