Simply put, Waldteufel evokes the spirit of elder times with 10 tracks of Northern esotericism. Musically "Heimliches Deutschland" (Hidden Germany) summons forth the memories of Deutschland's glorious Heathen past. From triumphant martial progressions to hauntingly beautiful ballads with an almost ritual element sure to stir the folksoul, "Heimliches Deutschland" is like an echo from an ancient Solstice revelry. Sung in German, the lyrics are the craftings of a modern-day Skald; piecing together the cosmological beliefs and folk customs of the Germanic tribes along with poetry that praises an indomitable will. Though firmly rooted in the past, the music possesses an air of heritage still living and breathing among the growing few in the here and now. Waldteufel easily stands among the ranks of the burgeoning "Neue Deutsche Volksmusik" scene yet marches to their own drumbeat here in the mountains and forests of Vinland's Pacific Northwest. Quintessential Heathen music of the highest quality ... `nuff said!
