The bottle holds up to 20 oz of water. I wish it were a little larger, it gets hot in Georgia. The strap is adjustable but held on with thin plastic clips.
In order to give the dog a drink, you have to flip up the thick rubber cup that is molded against the bottle. You have to turn the cup inside out as you flip it into position. I see this as a place where the motion will weaken the rubber and eventually break. We'll see.
The spout pulls out of the top and water flows into the cup. There is a small rubber O ring on the spout to seal the water in the bottle. If you lose the O ring or it breaks, the bottle will leak.
I have used this bottle with my two yellow Labs and one will drink from and the other will not. Oh well, that's his choice.
I give it two stars for the concept but not three or four due to the design of the cup, the strap clips and the spout O ring.
Notes after using it while hiking: This bottle must stay upright or else it leaks. This makes it good for a walk in a park, but not for a big hike. The strap is small and thin which again is good for a walk in the park, but not for a walk up and down hills.
Although you'd normally think of using this bottle on a hike, it would probably be best for car trips with your dog because you'd have everything altogether and not have to worry about finding the water and then a separate bowl for your dog when you get to a rest stop or a long walk in the park.

This is not dishwasher safe. Didn't know that. Washed it in the top rack and the rubber bowl part melted and deformed. Never got to use it. Read morePublished 6 months ago by JMo
