5.0 out of 5 stars Great For Cleaning Drip Coffee Makers.. October 20, 2012
Heinz Distilled White Vinegar is a wonderful sanitizing product for cleaning most any brand of drip coffee maker. About once every three months I'll run two cups of this through the coffee maker just like brewing coffee. Pour it in the water tank and turn it on. This cleans out the tank and water distribution system inside the coffee maker. After the cleaning, run a fresh pot of water through to clear out the residual vinegar. This should keep your coffee tasting fresh.

5.0 out of 5 stars good June 8, 2014

I'm not a vinegar connoisseur or expert but I have always been happy to use Heinz vinegar. It is a solid product.

I like the glass bottle because glass is so nonreactive so I know it isn't leaching anything weird into the vinegar.

The 16 oz. bottle is also a really nice shape and size. After the bottle is empty, I use it as a spray bottle. It is better than using plastic. I keep the lid as well because it is better for storing liquids than leaving a spray nozzle on. I found that the removed nozzle off of the really cheap (under $1) Home Depot brand spray bottle (has orange on the nozzle) screws on to these bottles with a perfect fit. But you have to pull out the hose, cut it shorter, and push it back into the nozzle. I started using them as spray bottles after my boyfriend and I bought some phosphoric acid to spray the rust under our lawn mower deck before we prime and paint it. He was worried about whether the plastic spray bottles were appropriate for leaving the phosphoric acid in. So when we got home, I eyeballed the size of the nozzle attachment and then looked at my glass bottles and the Heinz vinegar bottle looked like the best bet. It also looks much better than a plastic bottle. As far as a spray bottle goes, this looks about as classy as you can get. If you really wanted to go all out, you could even glass enamel the bottle or use glass coloring pens on it or fimo it and so on and really have a pretty bottle.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is what it is May 26, 2013

White Vinegar is white vinegar, I rated it 5 stars because if it were anything else that would be a fail. The packaging is fine, the bottle is durable and it's enough that it will last for a while. I mainly use it for cleaning out the coffee maker and getting out red wine stains after the dog though it was fun to hit my glass.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does vinegar cause cancer? August 17, 2012
Verified Purchase
Russian researchers say, no, not by itself but vinegar (acetic acid) increases the deadliness of any cancer-causing nitrosamines in our diet. Salt and sea salt always contain nitrosamines. Beef, pork, and poultry always develop nitrosamines (and heterocyclic amines) when they are cooked in normal ways. Processed meats contain nitrosamines even before they are cooked. The only way to avoid creating nitrosamines in bloody, raw meat is to boil it in water without adding any salt. (Please click "Comment" below if you want to read what scientific studies from Russia say about vinegar). Balsamic vinegar is by far the most delicious of all vinegars but it contains a substantial amount of lead, which is toxic. The lead comes from the oak wood casks used in Italy to manufacture balsamic vinegar. Distilled white vinegar is made from corn and is very low in lead. French's Yellow Mustard, Worcestershire Sauce, Heinz Ketchup, and many other commonly consumed foods contain substantial amounts of distilled vinegar in their ingredients.
